I hate how people can't ask a question about birth methods without getting at least one comment like yours, i'm sorry

i would ask for one if need be, only because my son decided to move his shoulders up at the last minute (he was in a hurry to see me) and i ended up with a clitoral tear that i wouldn't have gotten had there been time for my dr to cut me, mine came super fast....no time for drugs just an IV barely...

and personally i think a cut heals better then a tear.

TMI i think my clit is in the srong spot now.

unmedicated... its not that much longer but to insist that those who used meds had an unnatural labor just seems mean...

Luckily, I went quickly, so I didn't have to sit in agony for too long, but none the less, I still did. Frankly, it hurt like hell. The worst pain you can ever imagine, and I was dead set against having drugs too, but I started begging for it when I was in labor. (I ended up having a spinal block that didn't work- it only made my right leg feel tingly for about a minute, so I felt everything) The best thing to remember is that, despite what you will be thinking, the pain won't kill you! Focus on an object in your room, and breathe. It's the best advice you will ever get. When you focus on your breathing or on an object, you're able to block out some of the pain, as pain is only your brain's reaction, and breathing or focusing distracts your brain.

Any other q's, feel free to ask me

I tore, but I didn't know I had until after I had given birth and the doctor asked me if I could feel him stitching me up. (By the way, I was healed from that at about 2.5 weeks pp, and I feel I would have been feeling bad for awhile had I gotten an episiotomy) I never did Kegal's, or perineum massaging.

it doesnt hurt like hell.

its not too bad... if you just concentrate on your breathing. GET A DOULA! my doula helped SOO SOO much!!

i had a second degree tear, i was pretty exhausted by the time i got to pushing so i just laid on the bed and pushed with my knees up.. but i think i wouldnt have torn if i wouldve had strength to squat and push. dang it. hopefully i can with the next baby.

hmmm.. and see, i'm not saying i'm going to have ALL my kids like this, I just want to at least give it a go with my first.. because if it ends up being less than the nightmares i'm expecting, heck.. i MIGHT just stick to it if possible..

For me, something just tells me I would have satisfaction experiencing what my grandma and mom felt.. Yes, I know it's painful to everyone who might bash me and i'm in no way saying, "drugs are bad" for birth anyway.. haha

Well, in her defense, the technical definition of "natural childbirth" is a drug free labor.

I would ask your doctor whatthey feel about givinganepisiotomy. 3 out of my 4 in the practice didn't do them (rarely at least) and the 4th did them almost everytime (she ended up being the one to deliver me!). I put on my birth plan "I only want an episiotomy if it looks as though I will have a severe tear." I reiterated it to my dr before i pushed. I had a minor tear. Almost healed up completely after a week half of having her. ( I DID only have a 5 lb 12 oz baby though! lol)

like i said, i wasnt trying to start anything but i know many girls who feel hurt that their labors are considered "unnatural" just because they needed pit or pain meds...

oh and p.s. my baby was a BIG boy. 9 lbs 6 oz. so dont be scared about that either. you can push out a big baby! i know that that was something that i was super worried about! i didnt want a big baby and i ended up having one, lol!

Thanks!

My mom said at one point she was even able to reach down and touch my head, and that gave her more motive...

also, what about all these Labor Positions I've been reading about, Will the hospital really allow me to move into a more comfortable position if i'm .. ahem... "unmedicated"

They can feel hurt when I come out and say to them, "You didn't have a natural birth"..

but I in no way said that or even close to anything like that..
It was simply a title to get my point across what what advice and advice givers I wanted..

The whole women of the past thing played a great role in my choosing to go drug free. Plus it made me feel like super woman lol. After that I feel like I can handle anything... and I love being the only one of my friends who did it without drugs. I just found it gratifying. Try it..... I don't think you will regret it. You really do forget about the pain the second the baby comes out. But ewwww delievering the afterbirth was a weird feeling lol.
