Is this 1950 or 2008?

So, here's something that I'm genuinely baffled by.
Why the hell is it 2008 and we're STILL stuck on "blue is a boy color" and "pink is a girl color"? What the fuck kind of crap hell is this? Apologies for that last sentence, but I really don't get it.
Why are people so against putting their boys in pink? or their girls in blue? Is it the end of the world if a stranger mistakes the sex of your baby? Are we worried that our babies are going to catch teh gay? That the other babies on the playground will call them "fag" or "dyke" for wearing the wrong colors? I really do not understand why I see people getting so freaked out about having the wrong color for their children. Will it kill your boy to wear a pink outfit? Or your girl to wear blue?
Perhaps this sounds condescending, but man, we've been sending people into space for 50 years and we're still hung up on the color our babies wear? Someone needs to fill me in on why this is so damned important.

I am not a big pink fan.. and everyone buys my daughter pink... gah.. I put her in every color of the rainbow, and when it's "boy colors" or a "nuetral color" people call her "Buddy" lol (she is still bald)

I don't put my son in pink... simply because I hate the color pink. However, his favorite stuffed animal is cheer bear, who is pink with a rainbow on her stomach. That bear makes him so damn happy and I love that he chose it as his favorite haha he takes it everywhere
his father won't let me decorate his room as care bears though

I didnt know what i was having with my second. I didnt buy a thing... when she popped out a girl i didnt buy much either... she wore blue, green, red... planes, trains, you name it....
whats odd id i had her in a yellow dress, white tights, and a big white bow in her hair for her 3 mo pics, and one woman said, "Oh, hes so cute"
so i gave up... they wear what is clean!! today she is in a red shirt, green shorts, and blue socks...

LOL my family has an aversion to pink only cause that was our "color" at family reunions and EVERYONE picked on us. Other than that I don't really see the issue. My dad wears pink... and my hubby looks dang good in his pink dress shirt

Here in the south it is a mandatory rule that boys wear blue girls wear pink so for my baby shower I requested everything green!
Don't you know blue is the color of the sky and closer to God so boys wear blue and pink is the color of delicate flowers which are closer to the ground so girls wear pink...

My daughter wears pink but also has blue / green or red outfits

I have no problem dressing a girl in blue, but I can't bring myself to dress my son in pink. Dressing him in a purple LSU outfit is enough for me.

Boys do wear pink. I think the only pink that looks good on a boy is the pick dress shirts sometimes. I don't usually like pink at all but I do think its really cute on a girl. I dont see anything "wrong" with a boy wearing it but I think boys look way cuter in blue.

Are we worried that our babies might catch the gay, LMAO that little line seriously made me laugh to myself!!
Yeah I don't see the logic, in Blue for Boy and Pink for Girl, I love all colors and I plan on putting my baby in all kinds of diferent colors.

i dont mind puttn my girl in blue but i dont want my boy in pink just because i dont want people mistaking him for a girl..an most pink outfits have real girly designs on them but back then i mean like1800s blue was for girls an pink for boys..i heard that on a fact center about babies.

I bought my daughter a pack of onesies from Carter's that were technically considered "boy." They were blue with dogs on em! I thought they were too cute to pass up. My mother looked at me like I was insane for buying her blue!

i dont have a problem with gays. i dont have a problem with my own child being gay. when my daughter is born she will wear "girly colors." Im pretty girly myself and although as an adult i wear green and blue and whatever color but i dont think i will dress my newborn in blue. when my daughter is older she will definately wear every color but for now i will stick with the pinks and purples and flowers and lace. i dont want to have to explain to strangers ooing and ahhing over my child that she is in fact female.
