re: Is this 1950 or 2008?

I agree...my girl wears blue and I'm proud of it...she does have a lot of pink, too, but it's kinda inevitable with the said mind-set. I think most people to it because for most babies it is hard to distinguish the gender just by looking at them. And for some reason most people get offended when you call he a she or vice-versa. I think the whole pink for girls, blue for boys kind of keeps this from happening. I put my girl in blue, and green, and yellow, and any other color I'm in the mood for. And if someone refers to her as a him, I simply correct the mistake.

I don't understand why it is a huge deal if a stranger doesn't know just from looking what sex your child is.

Pink is my favorite color, but i think guys look hot in it. It takes confidence to pull it off and confidence is sexy.

(on men not children, but i think boys clothes with pink on it is very cute haha)

Some boys get very upset and self-conscious from being called a girl but as a infant that doesnt understand its fine. Its the same with girls. My daughter HATES being called a boy so we try to make sure she looks like a girl so she doesnt get upset.

Well you know...we CAN transmit the gay. ;)

Gabe wears whatever. He's got pink onesies, purple ones, blue, red, yellow...as long as it's clean, I don't give a crap what he's wearing, lol.

I really wanted a girl, so it's likely at some point my son may end up in a cute dress that I couldn't resist buying

It's like we were separated at birth. Everytime you post something I automatically think--ME TOO! My 3 year old is wearing a blue Nike shirt with a pair of yellow basketball shorts that have a purple accent on the side and some batmobile crocs. He was wearing what was clean. I believe in letting your child pick out their own clothes, it lets them express themselves, without drawing on the walls.
To the OP. Each of my children wore what I was given by friends. With my oldest my bf had a girl exactly a year older than mine. All of her daughter's clothes went from he closet to Trinity. So I didn't really decide what color she would wear. My son though, ugh his dad. My son is our only boy with 4 girls. my husband only buys things that scream it's a boy! John Deere, camo, nike sports appareal. It's crazy. With our baby EVERYTHING we got was handed down or bought for us and EVERYTHING was freaking pink. It's ok though because she makes pink look good!

I just don't think that rests on the kid.

Somewhere along the line, something has told them that they are a girl/boy and it would be COMPLETELY unacceptable to be called anything else.
