Went to doc's today...might have baby...

So, much to our surprise we might have a baby next week!
Let me explain! We went in for our routine appointment. I gained 4 lbs in 2 wks (total of 15 entire pregnancy) and everything was going just fine. Iron was good, BP was only 118/72 and the heart beat was 152. When I asked the doc about another US he said, "No, not unless it's medically necessary." Well, then comes the surprise!
"I was wrong, we will do another US. You're measuring 39 wks, not 35!"
Um, HELLO! Can you repeat that! Holy crap! Talk about amazement. I didn't think he was THAT big! They just want to double check everything and if in fact he IS 40 wks next week, well we'll have our baby EARLY! We are going crazy! We haven't even finished putting up the crib and I have my shower tomorrow! I guess it's crunch time now. I can't believe it!
What do you all think? Has this happened to anyone before? Just thought I'd share what happened. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hopefully you can get evrything ready in time just in case but that happened to me mid-way through my pregnancy. I was measuring 6 weeks ahead of myself! And then within the course of two weeks my little body 'caught up' and I was measuring back in the range I was supposed to be. But good luck, the sooner the better! And I'm sooooo jealous too because I want this one out of me!

Not to be a worrywart but I have heard of docs misreading a due date and delivering a baby way too early which can result in many problems (particularly with lung and liver development). Ultrasounds themselves can only accurately predict weight within 1 lb either direction (so if your baby measures 6 lbs he could actually be 5 lbs or 7 lbs). What other tests are they doing to confirm the fetal age and development? Why wouldn't they just let nature take its course and let your body deliver when it is ready?

i agree.. i hate hearing about girls getting induced so early and the docs pushing the c section for there convenience.. If the baby is ready he'll come out !

Yeah, I've heard of people being induced WAY too early and having issues w/lungs and other stuff. Well, next week they're going to do a better US to measure and see how things are progressing. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but he told us to be prepared. The thing is, I don't remember having a period after my cyst burst in October so who knows when we conceived our bundle of joy. Either way, they could be wrong or they were wrong in the beginning. Only time will tell. Personally, I'd rather wait until August, at least the first week rather than next week, but we'll just see.
