Oh no hun... Ive been trying to potty train him since the "SECOND" he turned 1. Ive been very inconsistant but witht he new baby on the way i have a reason to not want to be buying pull-ups any more. So finally when i knew i was running out of pull-ups i didnt buy anymore. I took off work and it took literally two weeks of staying on him 24hrs a day. ( but you have to be able to take that time off work). If you son goes to day care, tell the teachers he is training and to work with you. I started sending him to school with 2-3 changes of clothes and only underwear. When he got home... EVERY30 MINS he was sitting at the toilet. I have absolutely no patience for training a kid to potty! So it was extremely frustrating and i am not looking forward to when my daughter turns 1-2... im dreading that day!!! lol But like everyone advised me... just keep trying, dont give up, HAVE PATIENCE, and STAY ON him... IT WORKS.

PS. I found myself using Pull-ups as a saftey net for my son going out and not peeing on himself in public as well as for myself so i didnt have to continue to pack 80 changes of clothes. But when i got fed up of paying $16-$17 for 24 pull-ups then i got tired and just decided to be consistant and it worked!

There's no "right" age to potty train. You have to look for signs of readiness and you must be patient. Toddlers want to have control. If they know you're freaking out, they're more likely to say, "Nope. On my time, not yours." You can't force a child to use the potty. They have to want to do it. My son does the potty dance and has great bladder control. He just doesn't have much interest in the potty, and he knows we need him fully trained before he can go to preschool this fall. So he's holding out because he wants control.

Srry no offense... but if your child can learn the potty dance and ABC's 123's he can learn to "feel" when he has to go potty. My son is already in daycare and i refuse to buy diapers for him @ school anda thome its ridiculous! Myself and ALL of my brothers were trained at 11-12 months whether or not we showed signs. My mother was dedicated to get us off the diaper! Ill be dammed if my child is 4 and still in diapers... embarassing for you and for the child at school. You are doing excatly what i was doing MAKING EXCUSES!!!! ( my son could pick dvd's open the player turn the channel and watch a movie, when he is done he'll take it out andput it up... so he's been ready if he LEARNDED to do all of those things he can LEARN to sit at the toilet and USE IT!!!!) NO child has control or is going to think he/she has control over any situation in my house PERIOD.His responsibility as a 2yr-old is to Sit on the potty when he has to use it. My son has no interest in the potty either... but i still made him sit down on the potty every 30 mins ( he didnt pee every time but he sat there) no matter what he or i was doing. Fall is around the corner and i pray that you wake up and train him.... because he is going to get teased if he is 4-5 depending on his bday in diapers still. ( i say those ages caus eyou said prreschool so i am only assuming he age of your child)

My son is just turning three. He does know how to use the potty, as he was nearly trained at Christmas. Then his sister came and he regressed, and we've been fighting an uphill battle ever since. He knows exactly what to do when he needs to go, but he knows that we want him to. It's all about control. He sees his sister getting attention and having her diaper changed, so he wants to get that same attention and refuses to use the potty. The more you try to force a toddler to do anything, the more resistance you will get.

It has nothing to do with their age! infant toddler pre-teen teen even on to young adults... its in a child's nature to challenge parental authority. So its up to you to let him win! As i stated before my 2-yr old CHILD doesnt have a choice to pee or not to pee for attention... he knows how to and will do so or will be punished end of stroy... sounds strict but it really isnt. I am not my kids friend... i am his mother and he will do as i say because i said so! just like i did to my mother!!!
