Does it happen to everyone?

So this is my first pregnancy and I have a million questions! A couple of friends have recently had their lil babies and i noticed they had this line going all the way down the center of their tummy! What is that? Does everyone get it and does it go away right away?

I'm on my third pregnancy and never got it so while it does happen to a lot of women, it's not everybody.

I never got it..

Its the linea negra, it should go away, and no, everyone doesnt get it.

Yes I have the line. Its different on each pregnant woman.

It's normal, but it doesn't happen to everyone. I got it and it didn't go away after I had my lil guy. It lightened and became less "hairy" but didn't completely go away.

Linea nigra is really common but not everyone gets it, just like stretch marks. I have linea but I don't have stretch marks. The linea should go away within at least six months after the pregnancy, but sometimes if it's REALLY dark it won't fade completely, so I would use cocoa butter or stretch mark cream just in case.

I got one. and mine hasnt gone away yet. and imalmost 5 weeks ppit just got lighter and less noticable.

Not everyone gets them.

Usually people w/ more melanin producing skin get it. I'm so white, and barely can tan soI don't get the mask or the linea negra, but majority of Hispanic girls get the mask, and the linea negra.Sun screen helps prevent the mask thing though, so ladies lather your face with sunscreen.

i never got that; but i did just get my first stretch mark yesterday. very light & way under my belly button. cocoa butter, here i come!

I heard the lighter you are the darker it will get and vice versa, the darker you are the fainter it will be, yea Im sure not everyone gets it, probobly like stretch marks but Im guessing at least 90% get it. Its part of pregnancy Mama, amongst many other things  

I got mine, and the last time it went away a couple weeks later!

Thanks you! Im sure Ill know soon whether Ill have one or not! I just think its the wierdest thing...its not there when your not pregnant.
