MY hair!

posted 17th Jul
Someone told me that you can't get your hair highlighted when you are pregnant....? !?!? Is this true?
I really would like to get mine done but i definantly don't want to put my babies health at risk....
Does anyone know"?

As long as you're in a well ventilated area it should be fine. Although I would stay away from bleach.

My doctor told me it is perfectly fine to dye, highlight your hair while you are pregnant.
I had my hair done a few times while prego. I just made sure I was in a well ventilated area.

I was feeling really ugly the past few months.... I was waiting for the second trimester. I just had my hair dyed yesterday and I feel so much better.
I talked to the dr. before having my hair done, she said I just shouldn't do it very often. I am going to try to not do it again during the pregnancy butI needed to do something to make myself feel better. The dr. basically said there is no proof saying it is bad for the baby but no dr. will tell you that it is ok either.

Yup she's right the dr. did mention that if I was going to have my hair done I should get it done not do it myself because of the ventilation problem.....
plus I'm clumsy......I'd probably end up pouring half the dye in my eye!

Thanks ladies!!!!
Ya'll are ALL so helpful!!!
I know it will be a little more costly but i'm going to get it done... i don't even want to know how it would turn out if i tried to do it myself!!!! lol
&& i know what you mean about "feeling ugly" ... i just feel not like myself and i think most of it is the sick-ness... but i think that getting my hair done will give me a little bit of a boost!

I got my hair colored and got extensions about a month ago. I feel 100x better about myself lol.

You have extensions? I've always wanted to try getting some... How different is it having them in? I mean like as far as styling it and stuff like that....

I have been told and read that you should be in an open area and not to get the roots done. Now I don't understand that because that is what needs to get done... lol Also I have been told that you should wait until your second trimester.. I need to dye my hair.. I dyed it in February and my roots are about middle to the bottom of my ear.. (I dye it black and I have a medium brown hair).. It isn't that noticable, but I have noticed that the hair grows a lot faster so you might want to wait a little bit longer so that you aren't paying a lot of money to continue to get it done..

It just depends. I had fairly short layers so I had to put a lot of layers of extensions in to make it look like I didn't have a mullet lol. So I can pretty much only part my hair certain ways so you don't see the tracks.

I love them though. It made my hair a lot fuller and longer. I can't wait for my hair to actually grow out. :]

It's def. ok but don't be up set if your hair doesn't catch the color. I use to have blonde highlights and my dr. said after the first trimester it was fine. And when i went to colorist she told me that my roots weren't picking up the dye and i had to go a reddish brown. So just know that also
