Quoting Savannah:]:“ so, im starting to take Pre-natal vitimans (sorry, my spelling is awfull), because on the bottle it said ... [snip!] ... after pregancy" is that okay, or helpful to take while TTC? And any tips on things I should eat/drink that will help me ttc?”
Quoting ♦Julie ♦:“ yes you should start taking them 3 months before you start trying! Also normally prenatal vit only contain 800mg of folic acid, i take a 400mg pill of folic acid as an extra to my daily vit!”My OB said it is dangerous to take more than 1000 MCG of folic acid- it isnt dosed in MG but in MCG- micrograms, not milligrams.
Quoting CoastieWife21:“ I take pre-natal vitamins and I'm not TTC.”why are you taking a prenatal vitamin instead of a regular vitamin then? I am an RN and too much of the fat soluble vitamins which are A, D,E,and K can be highly toxic to your body. prenatal vitamins contain amts needed by your body when you are supporting a fetus- the amts are too much if you are not pregnant or at least TTC. Taking excess amts of the fat soluble vitamins provides no way for your body to rid itself of the excess amts.

And any tips on things I should eat/drink that will help me ttc?”The vitamins wont necessarily help you get pregnant faster, but it will make you less likely to miscarry very early on. I took prenatal vitamins for a couple of months before my concieved my son and I swear that it made a difference. He was born 8 weeks early and I swear that because of the vitamins and of course the steroid shot they gave a week before he was delivered, made him muh healthier. He came out an ounce shy of 5 lbs and only needed help keeping his lungs inflated for about 24 hours. Then he only spent the first 12 days of his life in the hospital, 7 of which were in the NICU. Not bud for being as early as he was!
