BARBIE’S new S&M look has whipped up a storm – with protesters dubbing it “filth”.

The doll’s image is transformed with kinky fishnets, motorcycle jacket, black gloves and boots.

Makers Mattel say Black Canary Barbie, out in September, is based on a DC comic superhero of the same name.

But religious group Christian Voice said: “Barbie has always been on the tarty side and this is taking it too far.

A children’s doll in sexually suggestive clothing is irresponsible – it’s filth.”

Is this group overreacting to Barbie's new duds since this is product targeted to a specific audience (comic book fans), or is "S&M" Barbie taking it too far?

Hahahaa, that's funny. Barbie doesn't even have a vag! It's not that big of a deal...

On the "tarty" side? Good lord, not everyone is Suzy Homemaker.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I can see how they would be iffy about the fishnets, but people dress differently everyday.

I think they are going a little far with this. In all reality, are they going to sell this doll in Toys R Us? Wal-mart? Or just keep it within the comic book stores?

If there's a comic called S&M Barbie (Or whatever), then make a damn doll. It's no different than making Spawn dolls. (action figures is what the nerds say).

As to the topic at hand, who bloody cares? There is a huge market of adult Barbie collectors--who are clearly the market for this doll. I seriously doubt parents will be buying their children this, and if they do, so what?

i would say they are over reacting. for gosh sake barbie has boobs and you see people in fishnets and leather out in normal life everyday. give barbie a break. this is as bad as pregnant barbie with no marriage ring being a bad influence on kids. these people need to worry about real problems.

I have more of an issue with Barbie's shape than what she's wearing.

But I do think S&M Barbie should come with a whip.
