I'll be overdue

I had my appointment today, and when he checked me, he said he can only get the tip of his finger in. So I haven't dilated any more than last time.

He also said that my pelvis is narrow and he doesn't think the baby will fit... so next wednesday he's gonna put a balloon in my cervix, and I'm scheduled for an induction the next day. So no baby on Saturday like I hoped.

I'm sorry!!! I went to my last appt. Tuesday and my doctor couldnt get a finger tip in!! I'm scheduled for a induction Sunday!!! Goodluck with everything and lots of easy labor dust!!!

Why a week? Doctor waits a certain time before inducing? I'm sorry, I know how you feel on wanting your little one out!! I'm sooooo ready!!!

Dilation doesnt really predict when the baby will come.
I will only 1 cm dilated whenmy water broke. Dont let them bully you into a c-section, either. with him saying your pelvis is too narrow, it sounds like hes getting ready to suggest a c-section.

Yeah I know, that's why he wants to try to stretch my cervix. He actually said he wanted to try and help me go natural as much as he could.

Tell me about it, I found out Tuesday that I'm being induced Sunday and now the days go by soooooooo slow!!! Feels like the days are just dragging along!!!

Make sure they start you on prostaglandins if you do get induced - helps to soften your cervix so if they put you on pitocin/ oxytocin it'll actually affect your cervix! (Do a google search for Bishops Score, it explains it better than I can).

And yeah, I've heard that dilation means 0 about predicting when labour will happen. You can be 2 cm dialated for weeks before anything will happen, or like my SIL who was 0 dilated, then 2 days later, she went into labour and 4 hrs later had her baby boy!

**** edited to say- I'm not trying to sound like I know everything, I know I've never had a baby before! I just read WAYYYYY too much when I'm bored at work, and have all this random info rattling around in my otherwise preggo-brain head

Okay thanks, I'll check into it. Well he doesn't think I'll be able to have the baby without induction because of my pelvis, he says it feels odd or something.

I don't really get that though... Induction, as far as I know, is just to make your cervix open but it doesn't change your pelvis at all. Is that right?

Also curious - just cuz I'm curious- what your baby's position is. Do you know? Cuz I know that if baby is posterior (I think that's it?) that you're more likely to dilate strangely, where one side dilates faster than the other, or if baby is breech you dilate funny too. I just wonder if baby is in a weird position thats making it feel funny to your dr?

My baby's been head down the whole pregnancy. He wants to induce me because he doesn't think I'll go into labor I guess, and he's worried about my pelvis because he thinks I might hav eto get a C -secion. I don't know, he kind of confused me.
