Accident Loss Case(really long, sorry!)

The story begins last December when I got into a car accident. It was my fiance and me in the vehicle and I had pulled out of a shopping center parking lot. Well there was an off duty security guard(not from that shopping center) driving south bound and I had turned onto the road north bound. He had worked the nightshift and fell asleep at the wheel, he came into my lane and took out th front part of my car- basically from the headlight on the driverside all the way to my drivers door. He continued on and pulled back into the parking lot and parked. Well he took out my battery in all that action and the acid was spread from the front of the car all the way to my back bumper, my door was inoperable and shortly after I turned my car off, it was too.(what with the battery completely dissinigrated(sp?) I had to have it towed and all that b.s. and I had my mom take me right to the hospital after I realized my insurance company only has a recording on the weekends and it was a Sunday. my fiance didn't go to the hospital just me, because I knew I was about 4-5 weeks along, and I didnt want to risk anything.
And the hospital visit was horrible- the not a real doctor guy working the ER prescribed me vicodin even after I told him I was prego-fuckin idiot, i swear- thats another story. So I hired a lawyer and all of that. we went to the doc, and the insurance wanted to settle us out at $1000 each, which is rediculous, but any way. We hired the lawyer and he recommended us to a chiropractor, of course I couldn't get an exray done since I was prego, but they still gave us our massages, and worked on our backs for about 3 months- the only reason we stopped going was because we figured the bills were racking up high and that it would take from whatever we would be getting. that and my belly was getting bigger and it was starting to be uncomfortable to lay there while they worked, even with the bed things that were adjustable for that reason. I still get horrible pain in my upper-mid back on the right side and my fiance will get back spasms out of no where.
not only did i have a bill still footed to me on the rental car because they said the company I wanted took too long to fix my car- even tho they had holidays so were closed and there was nothing anyone could do about that. but they still want to offer out what I believe is a very low amount. My fiance and I would get about 3k a piece but I don't feel its sufficient for everything we've gone thru. I got dropped to hourly from salary pay because of my doc appts. so I lost a signficant amount of my wages. it was horrible trying to move into a new apt. for us. My fiance hasn't been able to really work because he has difficulty standing for long periods of time or anything else- he used to lay tile and that is impossible for him now with the pain he endures. All this and more, but I don't feel like our lawyer is really in it with us. He wants us to settle at what we're being offerd saying that we would get the same amount, about, if we take it to trial but it would take another several months. My fiance and myself feel that if a jury does here our situation then they would understand where we are coming from and what not. I feel my lawyer doesn't even care to listen to my opinion on the matter. He's just tryin to get it done with. he tells me the offer is not good, but the take home is. I think its not, and so does my fiance. I don't want to be greedy, but I do want to get what we actually deserve.
Has anyone else gone thru a situation similar before? I need advice & support.

you should get a new lawyer

I have been greatly considering that, but I'm not sure how that works- I'm sure I'd still have to pay this guy for something, but what I don't know. I am going to talk to my aunt today I think they have a good lawyer that their family has used time and time again so I'm gonna try talking with him.

i would say to get a new lawyer too. Most lawyers you dont need to then until you win the case. Go to a free of charge freeinterview with a new one and ask. I hope you guys get pay what you deserve! Good luck!
