Did you test?

I had Mirena placed on May 2nd. I've heard it's effectively immediately and I've heard it takes a few months to be effective. Regardless, the info pack w/ it said to take a pregnancy test 6 weeks after it is placed to rule out pregnancy. <-- probably b/c some don't get a period while on this.

So, I didn't stop bleeding till 12w pp. Now I'm almost 17w pp w/ no period. We've only had sex 6 times post-baby. Is it even worth testing, or is Mirena really effective immediately?

I don't know, but I should probably get a test also...just in case! Thanks for the reminder  .

It also says to test IF you miss a period. But, Mirena is suppposed to make you skip periods, and then eventually you won't get them. So, it's like they don't make much sense.

That's the one thing that sucks.. I always have in my head... "Am I pregnant? Is that why I didn't get my period?" I've taken 2 tests since I got it put in in Jan. One in the middle of March ( 8 weeks) and one about 2 weeks ago.

I didn't test at 6 weeks but I did get pregnant 3 1/2 months PP with my mirena in place.... Good luck

I would test just incase. I mean it can't hurt right?

i would test just to know for sure. but, i was always one to test alot. i am silly like that!

 . i just got my mirena put in 3 days ago. i was told it was effective immediately. i don't want another baby right now!

my husband has had a vasectomy, and about 2 months ago i was really late, so i took a test then... bfn, but it put my mind at ease. i think i was late due to stress.
