Almost there! Just an update for those who care :)
posted 16th Jul
Today, I am 38 weeks and 4 days. 10 days until my due date.
I just had a doctor's appointment and If I don't go into labour naturally, I will be induced on August 5th - in 20 days.
She didn't check me for dilation which I do not mind at all even though it would be nice to know if I am dilating or not. I really don't think it gives me too great of insight on how soon I will go into labour since women can sit at 4cm dilated for weeks while others can have no dilation and then have their waters break and dilate within hours. Last week, was the first time she had checked me after she did my Group B Strep Test and I was still closed.
I haven't had too many distinct signs of labour. I don't even think I've had BH contractions. Though, I have had painful pelvic pressure for the last few weeks that makes it hard to walk. My doctor said this is due to the baby trying to work it's way down into my cervix. I have also had some period-like cramps and clear, thick stringy discharge. Not sure if it was my mucous plug - could have been just a bit of it coming out.
I have absolutely everything I need for my newborn baby and so much more. I got the basics, the necessities, the recommended items and the extras. I have over 300 diapers, tons of baby wipes, wash, lotion, powder...and all that fun stuff. I have a bunch of clothes ranging from newborn - 12 months since I work at The Children's Place. I also have a $50 gift certificate from them since starting my maternity leave and plan on buying gender specific clothes for when I finally find out the sex. I have a complete baby healthcare kit. I have the nursery all set up with some finishing touches still to do like put shelves up but it is nonethless, ready for a baby. I have my hospital bag packed and ready to go and the carseat in the car.
I have everything for me as well. About 100 maxi pads, a box of nursing pads, nursing bras, nursing cream, new slippers, nightgowns, underwear, and tons of bubble bath!
I also have money saved up for the month or so while I wait for my employment insurance since I am getting paid maternity/parental leave for a year.
Other than lots and lots of rest and sleep looks like all I need now is my brand new baby Ready or not he/she is going to be here for sure by August 5th. I know I can't fully prepare myself for the change that is going to happen within these next couple weeks or so but I think I've been doing the best that I can. I know it'll be so different and hard and frustrating at times but I really can not wait because I know it will be worth it!
How are all the other July/August even September mommies doing? Are you ready? Anxious? Scared? Excited?
And for the new mommies and experienced mommies - any tips? Advice? Insight?
