Not so good doctor visit!!

posted 16th Jul
Well i just had my Doctors appointment yesterday, and as always the first thing i do is have to get on a scale, which i dread doing. And i couldnt believe my eyes when it read my weight! it showed i had gained exactly 10 lbs in a little over 2 weeks!!!!! i was in shock! Especially because as of about 3 weeks ago i completely cut soda and gatorade out of my diet, and i eat somewhat healthy.

So i was a little sad but i quickly forgot about it because i was excited to hear my babys heartbeat!! then when my doctor came in, i noticed her attitude was different and immidiatly starting talking to me about my weight gain and to be honest was seeming a bit judgmental! But i just agreed with everything she said because after all i dont want to be on bad terms with the women who is delivering my daughter.

After a small disgussion and hearing my babys heartbeat, i wanted to talk to her about the swelling iv been getting in my feet and how its hard to even go get the mail!! (i know, sad). *i was hoping i wasnt going to get bad swelling during my pregnancy but i did...and its uncomfortable to even cook and dinner for my boyfriend, and by the time im done with dishes my calves are swollen!!!!*
anyways she then said "well youve had a bit of weight gain the past few visits and i dont want you to make excuses for not exercising because swelling isnt a good excuse". i was like WTF!!! i didnt say that to her but i was thinking it. that kind of set me off. especially because i had to write a log of how my diet was and if i exersized pervious to my pregnancy, and she knows full well that i walked 3miles a day 6days a week and was very energetic!! and i cant help that i swell and to top it off its been over 100 degrees where i live for the past few weeks!!!!

So that reallyupset methat she would say i was trying to make an excuse for not exercising! when all i was doing was seeking help for my damn swollen feet!! My boyfriend even said he could tell she was judging me. anyways.....whew!!

i just hope i dont have another doctors visit like that!!!
sorry ladies i totaly needed to vent!!!!

I feel your pain.. they won't do anything for swollen feet, trust me! Let your Dr. know how you feel about her comments, she should understand, it was pretty rude of her.

Oh my! I didn't gain any weight until I was 29 weeks or so. I went from 125 to 155! I'm starting to retain fluid too, so that's probably some of it. I didn't have a good office visit today either! I almost passed out during my utlrasound! Not a good feeling!! I climbed the stairs to get to the doctors office on the second floor and I thought I was gonna die by the time I got into the office! It's hard to do much when ur eight months pregnant! What's up with doctor's being so blunt lately? My friend had nearly the same experience at her appt!

Hell on bad days getting to toilet every 10 minutes to pee feels like exercise enough to me. But on days I am feeling good, I walk my do for at least a mile and I am up cleaning all day. I just can't stop. But the days vary, thankfully I have been having more good days lately than bad days. I slept through the first three months of my pregnancy, lol. I couldn't be awake and go for more then a few hours at a time without compleptely exshusting myself.

10 lbs is not that big of a weight gain. Most of it is fluid, extra blood and the baby. Plus, you're going to swell when it is hot and humid because your body is trying to retain that water for cooling purposes. I'm just now starting to get the "pregnant feet and ankles" and I know it's because it's like 100 degrees here...102-104 with heat index and I work outside alot. Just drink alot of water and watch your salt. May help some but, swelling during pregnancy is pretty normal. If you know you're eating right and doing what you should..screw her. That extra fluid can probably account for at least 5 of those pounds.

i know i was thinking that too! i told myself not to let what the doctor said bother me. so im not really upset anymore, i just think its weird that she just jumped to the conclusion of me not exercising and probably eating too much. but yea im sure iv had water retension!!! thanks ladies!!
