What colors should I use?

posted 16th Jul
Here is the bedding we got for Jack (I love frogs!). My crib is white. I was planning on doing green for the walls, but I don't know what color carpet to get. Or if anybody has different suggestions, I'm open to them! My picture is big so you could see it better.

I think it would be pretty darn cute if you did the walls in a cream color too, so that way it doesn't take the focus off the bedding. Cute bedding though!!!

he he he......... I like the wood flooring in your picture!! I agree with the first girl, I would do the carpet in a neutral color for when you want to change his bedding. Or if you did do it in a color, I suppose you could look for toddler bedding that had the same color in it. Good luck!! The bedding is darling. I like froggies too.

If you are planning on adding new carpet I would change that plan and go for a different flooring option. Carpet is notorious for toxin emmissions and dust mites, both of which are bad for your baby. There are plenty of other options such as wood, laminate, cork, natural linoleum or even bamboo. They are not that expensive and are neutral in color so you won't have to change the floor again for the next baby.
Here's a link to some information about the best flooring to use for a baby nursery.http://www.creative-baby-nursery-rooms.com/baby-nursery-flooring.html

You can use rugs that match your frog theme to soften the floor. These can be easily changed when the next baby comes.

If you do decide to go with carpet, your best option is a natural fiber carpet such as wool, in a neutral color that will still work as your baby grows.

Enjoy - nursery decorating is such fun!

Well, I have had carpet my whole life, as has my daughter & I haven't had any problems yet. I don't want a hard floor in my childs room, because if he is as clumsy as my daughter I am going to be in for alot of "ouchies".

You could always divide the room with a chair rail and do a water blue on the bottom and a cream on top. Put lily pads on the blue like they're in the water and the rest of your accessories and froggie stuff on the lighter color. Just something different than doing green. I'd also keep the carpet completely neutral so you're not tied down later on.You can always get a cute throw rug for the middle of the room to break up the monotony of it.Good luck- the bedding is adorable!

The wall idea is adorable! I would've never thought of doing something like that~ I was a little hesitant to do green because my daughter's room is green & pink~ I don't liek to have my rooms the same color~ so I will definately suggest that to DH

I'm the same way- I always had white walls growing up so my kids rooms are decked out!

lol~ we had paneling lol~ we let our daughter pick out her paint & carpet for her room~ I told her the "water" idea & she was like yea let's do that~ I get to help paint! Then she kept adding ideas~ you can put frogs in the water too, cuz they are in the water (we have a pond) So that's sounding like what we are planning on so far~ that opens alot more options for carpet color as well. (since I'm not restricted to green.

She sounds like a doll - it has to be nice that she's so excited about having another baby around.

I'm glad too~ She's 7 so she's been the baby for quite some time~ but I try to include her in everything, so she knows she won't be left out.
