mirena and immediate protection

okay, I'm getting Mirena on Friday, I was wondering if it is immediatly effective or if there is a "waiting period" where you have to use backup?

it works right away... but we used condoms for about 2 weeks after i got mine! Rather be safe!! lol

So how is that I talked with my dr. about for after the babys born but i'm scared that it will fall out can it?

I really don't know if it can fall out or not! I know the Nuva Ring can fall out! lol That's how I got prego!!!

lol yep about the nuva ring... thats how i got my daughter as well!!

Can your hubby feel it? I asked the dr and he just looked at me like i was crazy

My bf hasn't said anything. I asked him and he said no... oh but I have Paraguard. Some woman say they can feel it every now and then but I personally haven't. But I also think it depends on how well your doctor places it.

It actually can slip out. You just have to check for it.

No my hubby couldn't feel anything. The only thing you should be able to feel are the strings that are left to make sure it is still in and honestly I have a hard time finding those sometimes because they get curled up at the top.

The reason i want to go with mirena is the five year thing i want at least 5 between my kids

I never used any other bc after I got the Mirena put in.

You can chance it fallng but it is something that happens to many people. I loved mine.

The doctor places it just like they would check you for dilation. I was never told to check it. I also could never find my strings.
