A few names

posted 16th Jul
We are pregnant with our 4th and are stuck on names this time around. A few we like are:

Boys middle name will be Leo (after my husband's middle name which is Leonard). Girls middle name will be Maryann (after my favorate grandmother who died when I was in college). The middle names are none negotiable, I really want to honor my DH or grandmother this time around since I've already been honored in my daughters middle name.

I like unusual names that are off the beaten path but not "too" off the beaten path. My sons are Sebastian and Linus, my daughter is Bronwen.

Boys names we like:

Atticus Leo
Rafferty Leo

Girls Names:

Astrid Maryann
Ingrid Maryann (yes, am having a thing this time around for Scandinavian names ending in -id  )
Tirzah Maryann (which is a legit Hebrew name, however, I'm concerned it doesnt "fit" with the others and those who are not familar with Hebrew names may look at it and think its a new trendy "made up" name which I want to avoid)

And we are stuck.  My daughter has insisted since she found out that we are having a girl named Tessa, and although its not a name that we like as a first name, we have no problem with having it be another middle name such as _______ Tessa Maryann. Our one son has 2 middle names but the other children2 do not, so, it would be fine either way plus I believe each child is unique and I dont "need" to have this one have only 1 middle name, or, that it must have 2 middle names, guess it just depends on who we feel the child looks like (and I am sure how insistant my daughter is about this whole Tessa thing  ).

I really want a few more names to choose from...we dont plan on finding out the sex at the 1/2 way point (well, I dont want to but everyone else does ) and we have chosen a name at birth once before and it worked out just fine (meaning, we didnt know the name before the child was born for either sex). And I'm a planner with names to some degree, but more of a "short list" planner, and not a "must have one name for each" planner.

Any thoughts on my current namesor suggestions of other ones that would fit?

Rafferty is really cute! I'm not fond of any of the girls names except, oddly, for Tessa.

Adric is the Russian form of Adrian and it seems like a name you might like. I think it somewhat goes with the names of your other children and seems somewhat similar to Atticus. I am not a huge fan of either Astrid or Ingrid... What about Aurelia perhaps? Bronwen & Aurelia sound cute together, for names of sisters. Just my 2 cents... I am sure you will choose a beautiful name that fits well with your family. And by the way, Bronwen is a REALLY neat name!

I love the names you have picked out so far! Unique names are great. (Which is probably why we're going with Hero   We haven't decided on a middle name yet, but we were considering letting Hero choose her own middle name when she's 18 and not giving her one at all.
Astrid is really awesome-- I used to use the name Astraea as my modeling name. I have a thing for Greek mythological names, obviously.
My favorites are Atticus and Astrid.   But all of them are really great choices.
And, who knows, you may come up with a name whenever you SEE the baby when it's born. Or you may come up with a name in your sleep. That's how I came up with Hero. I apparently mumbled something about the Shakespearian name Hero while I was sleeping and my husband told me the next day. I remember saying it, but we hadn't even talked about baby names at the time. Weird. Maybe my baby was telling me what she wants her name to be
