switching to solids?

When do you start feeding them baby food,cereal, and other things ect??

Doctors recommend starting at 4-6 months.

You should always ask your pedi before thinking about starting solids. Some babies are ready earlier, some arn't ready until later/ Plus, the earlier you start the more risk for allergies is there.

My daughter just turned 4 mths Sunday and I took her for her four month appt friday and they told me to go ahead and try baby food with her. Shes been on cereal from 2 mths.

I started cereal at about 4 months and slowly introduced jar food shortly there after.

I didnt start Rebecca on cereal or food until month 6. The pediatrician said to wait until then, so thats what I did.

So do they still drink formula when you give them baby food??

How much formula does your baby drink while eating baby food/cereal?

My daughter still gets breastmilk, but the amount has gone down alot. Instead of booby juice for a meal, its replaced by babyfood...and thats twice a day for Becca. She still gets milk in between though, to keep her hydrated and give her the nutrients she needs. So yes, keep the formula going.

My son was born 8 weeks early, and I still started him on solid foods around this 4th month. He's irritable if he doesnt get his cereal once a day. It's like 2 ounces of food all together, I mix cereal, a bit of formula, breast milk and half a jar of stage 1 food. He eats it like no tomorrow. I started him on it because he was able to hold his head up on his own, also is able to sit up veyr well supported and was showing an interest in food when we would be eating. He still gets most of his food intake by bottles, but the way I see it is you as the mom can usually tell when your baby is ready.
