Baby wipes

posted 16th Jul
I just thought that I would ask you ladies about this. I read it last night in one of my baby books. It stated that for the 1st few weeks you should use a cotton ball and water to wipe the baby clean while changing the diaper and not use baby wipes right away. I personally have never heard of this and don't the hospitals give you and use wipes right away after the baby is born. Just wondering if anyone else ever heard of this. Thanks ladies!

they did that when my baby had bad diaper rash from medications in the nicu. the hospital he was born in gave us big gauze pads to moisten to clean him. i think the sensitive wipes are ok to use but if you see any reaction to stop right away. new babys skin is very sensitive.

Wow! That is something I have never heard of. The hospital gave me wipes to use right away. My son has extremely sensitive skin and we have never had a problem with wipes.

speaking of wipes I just thought I would put this in there since I just tried them. If anyone is wondering about the parents choice (walmart brand) of wipes they are actually really nice. I used the little to-go pack for my sons diaper bag and was impressed at how great they work being so cheap.

My hospital did not use wipes. They gave you what were like soft paper towels that you had to wet everytime you needed to use them. Too big of a pain for me - I sent my hubby to CVS to buy wipes! I have used them since day 1 with my daughter and have had no problems!

Yeah I got those too! They come in handy for "spot cleaning" the baby after eating. I still have about 50 of them. The hospital sent me home with so many.

They make a good washcloth for baths as well.

That is what I was thinking, it would be impossible. I plan on using the sensitive ones as well.

We have used wash clothes with only water for the longest time on my kids with no issues. I cannot see putting all those soaps/chemicals on their parts during every diaper change, its just overkill to me. We bath our children frequently and they never had rash issues (well, I mean, when they were teething or maybe ate a bunch of Clementines they would have rashs, but, not on a regular basis).

For the first 3 months I only use washcloths , thats what the hospitals give you here to use .

I love the Johnsons Bedtime Bath cloths. It's just easier than trying to hold a slipppery baby and grab a bottle of soap at the same time!

For both of our sons, the hospitl gave us washcloths to use for the first few days at the hospital/ We just wet them and wiped the bottoms. No biggie. We switched to wipes at home after about one week. That was a LONG time ago though. We wil probably do the same thing with this baby too though.
