WIC?

posted 16th Jul
Who uses it?
How much do they help you? I was looking into this. Thought I'd get some opinions first hand from who has it.

What do they do for you while pregnant?

it helps out, especially when a gallon of milk is more expensive then a gallon of gas nowdays!

they give you little paper vouchers and you take them with you into walmart, they have a list on the voucher of everything you can get, like milk, eggs, cheese, juice, cereal, oatmeal...etc.. its good you should try to get it!

It doesn't really help out a whole lot with groceries (about $30-$40 a month), but if you are going to use formula it definately helps out there. If you are planning on breastfeeding and returning to work they will also give you a pretty nice breastpump (Medela pump in style here) if you ask about it.

We basically get like 85-100 dollars of free groceries every month. We get 5 1/2 gallons of milk, a jar of peanut butter, four 64oz bottles of juice, 2 lbs of cheese, 2 dozen egs and a couple boxes of cereal. It helps so much! I am going to miss it because we won't qualify when we recertify after Charlie is born now that carlos makes more money.

Ohh? I was going to try the whole breastfeeding thing, but my mom thinks formula is better. So yeah probably. I have the paperwork & stuff.

Ummm formula is not better. It is an OK alternative, but not better...plus it is SUPER expensive. Breatfeeding is the best choice for you and the baby's health if you can do it.

Aww reallly? I definitely don't make too much. I'm just trying to have an option incase my ex decides to pull something.

Yeah she's thinking easier. I meant. But I told her I'd give breastfeeding a try.

Breastfeeding is definately better. If you need to be away from the baby for work or whatever, get the free pump from them. There are some women who can't breastfeed, but I encourage everyone to try it because it's so beneficial for both you and the baby.

Yeah...I added up the vouchers and the current prices of the food we get here in Cali...and it usually is about $85 worth per month. If it is just you and your unborn child you should have no problem qualifying.
