Question.

I know this is going to be a silly question, but im in a lot of pain right now. Im really constipated, and i havent gone to the bathroom for like a week now. Is there anything i can take or do, that can help me, without harming the baby? And does anyone know how long this lasts?? Im freaking hurting so bad. Thanks.

My doc recommended colace for constipation.

Drink LOTS of water (2 liters a day) and up your fiber intake to 30+ grams a day. You can take a stool softener (not laxative) like Colace (I use generic, because they are WAY cheaper), but they can take quite a while to kick in (it's taken over 3 days for me before when I was really constipated).

drink lots of water eat lots of fruits
over the counter stoll softeners are alright too.

IF you need to go. I would use a enama. Most women wouldn't use it. but i find if i am in severe pain and need to go.and need relief asap that is what i would use.

lots of water, my dr told me milk of magnesia, and eat chocolate, its a natural laxative, my husband made me eat a package a day when i was having problems, he learned that in the army! go figure

Where can i buy colace? and thank you all  

My doctor said a combo of Metamucil (They've come out with a pink lemonade flavor)daily and colace can help and even a dose of Milk of Magnesia usually helps me. Make sure if you take MoM to drink a full 8 oz of water afterward cuz that helps and it says to do that on the bottle. I bought Fiberone's new cereal and yogurt and that helps too. Lots of Fiber and water though can help and once you're unstopped you'll feel so much better.

After searching high and low at Target, I found it at my pharmacy. Talk to the pharmacist, and they'll point you in the right direction.

I've been told not to do the enema thing because that's what they use when they try to induce labor when you're overdue sometimes and it can cause you to go into preterm labor. My doc said no way.

Thank you guys so much. My next doctor's appointment is next week, and I forgot to mention it to her last week when i went, and ive been in tons of pain, and i tried to do the chocolate thing, and it didnt help, it usually would for me, but it didnt, i tried milk and chocolate.
