36 weeks...

Well, I am 36 weeks today, and I had been to the doctor's office around 3 pm and it is now 8 pm. I've been feeling a constant ache in my stomach for about two hours now, and it is hard to keep track of my contractions because I am constantly hurting. My back, top and lower stomach hurt... and every once in a while my pelvic area will cramp.

When I was at the doctor's he said my cervix was 50% effaced, so... could I be in labor? If not, then I can't figure out why I'm hurting like this. Please help.

It sounds like some bad BH, don't worry about effacing it just means your cervix is softening to prepare for dilation. I've been 75% for several weeks now. If they are coming as often as you say and hurt that bad you should go into ER to get checked anyway.

everyones diff. go to l&d even if its not labor, it will make u feel better.

Well, could my cervix efface that quickly if it is labor? Or is that impossible?

Effacing isn't labor. Mine went from nothing to 75% and 1cm dilated overnight.

i was in full labor and my cervix wasnt completely effaced. its diff for everyone.

Well, I guess I'll wait for a little while longer, and if it doesn't subside then I should go on down. Thanks for the replies.
