Baby Shower etiquette

posted 15th Jul
It's a little early to be thinking about baby showers, but I have a question. When it comes time to register for baby stuff, is it wrong to pick a particular pricy item (such as a crib and bedding set...say in the $250.00 range) and ask the close family to go in together and get it? My family probablly would be happy to do that if it's something I wanted, but is that rude? What is the proper thing to do?Should I register for it and see what happens? I'm not picky at all, so I'm a little embarresed to ask such a silly question, but I wanted some opinions from everyone.

I registered for my crib and all my nursery furniture and got it all!
Go for it.

My family went in together to get my son's crib set, so I don't see why they would care if that is something that you want.

put whatever you want on the registry, just don't expect anything or everything.

a lot of times people won't go by your registry.

It won't hurt to put it on there though.

Definitely put everything on the list...you'd be surprised what you get... Mine and My fiances parents split the crib cost and then bought seperate things like the stroller and playpen...don't worry about being rude...if you put things from low to high cost...there's a price for everyone....i also had a couple friends who split the cost of my swing and some bouncers....i got everything i needed plus some...have fun =0)

Of course! Put whatever you want on the registry. I would wait until your parents, or close family members, ask what you want. That way you can "I would really love the such and such and I've got it on my registry". Instead of going and asking them to buy it for you. Usually close family members will ask what you want. Have fun! And congrats.

We had some pricey items on our registry and my husband's mom bought us the travel system we wanted, some of his friends went together and got the pack and play, so put it on there. It is not rude it is just letting people know what you would like. However, you may get everything on your registry and then again you may not. Majority of the things we got for our shower was not on our registry.
