Florida ???

Do any of you ladies live in Florida and know about Fort walton beach or the surrounding areas?? My husband got orders to move there and were moving in the middle of aug and I am trying to research the area and find a good apartment in a safe area and nice as well. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you ladies!!

I like in FL. but I dont know where that is. I live closer to the Orlando area.

I live in FLorida but i'm in the southeast. But where your going to live is one of the #10 most desired place to live in the US!

I dont live in fort walton but have been there, it is awesome. My cousin and her husband are stationed there right now, he is JAG. They are gettign ready to be moved soon. I love the fort walton/destin area, beaches are awesome.

We're hoping for orders to be at least near there this time next year.
Yes, like the other gals mentioned, you'll LOVE the beaches. the gulf side is known for their beautiful white sandy beaches.

is that anywhere near panama city?? we get stationed at Tyndall AFB the end of Oct

it's in the panhandle about 45 minutes away from Pensacola

I'd love Tyndall too. It's about another hour and a half away from Tyndall.

Wow I've lived in FL all my life, orlando area but traveled all over and currently in the St.pete/ Clearwater area....but i've never heard of Fort Walton...dope ...lol

Dont feel bad I lived here half my life and didnt know either until today. I'm sure there are tons of places I dont know about yet.

Yeah its exciting to go to Florida considering its one of those places everyone wants to go and see. Im so busy apartment hunting right now and the prices are amazing considering how close they are to the beach and im use to about 1200 to live even in a dump like in a 20 mile radius from the beach haha. The beaches do look beautiful im so nervous about moving away from the fam but thats what I get being married to military. Its nice having all you ladies tell me its gorgeous there thoough. Thank you!!

I used to live there. There is a lot of fun stuff to do, and the beaches are beautiful. Are you at Eglin or Hurlbert?

Shalimar is the nicest part of town. There is actually really nice base housing in the   Piquito(sp?) Bayou subdivision. Green Acres is going to be the closest to base, It's more middle/lower class. A lot of family and military. There are homes for sell/rent all over the place back there, and there is a good daycare back there. TLC daycare center. (I would personally want to live in Shalimar.)
