Dying Your Hair??

I'm 20 weeks preggo.. and am in serious need of getting my hair done...just a simple dye.. But I always thought that it was potentially harmful to do it during pregnancy, but my hairstylist told me that most doctor's say its okay...
So what do yall think?

i got mine done at 15 weeks doc said it was ok just make sure its Well vented

At 20 weeks you can! Just not in your first trimester. It won't harm the baby, but because your hormones are going insane, it could cause your hair to change to weird colors, not likely but it could happen.

i personally didnt dare while i was preggo, but there is dye out that doesnt have that strong smell..i cant remember what brand it is

The reason that people think that getting your hair dyed while you're pregnant is bad is because of the ammonia in there. But you will inhale the same amount of ammnoina when using Windex to clean windows/mirrors. Drs say it's not really that bad now as long as you don't do it everyday, which you wouldn't need to. If you're really worried about it, use a ammnoia free dye that you can buy at the store.

I did mine at like 3 weeks but she my hair gooroo told me that I could color my hair the whole pregnancy so I would say go for it

not true I had mine done the first trimester and my Doc. said It way just fine just could not get my nails done

My sister dyed her hair and instead of turning it the blonde color that it was suppose to if changed it to a red color....its def. okay to dye your hair cause ive been thinkin of gettin mine done but am too chicken too....but i just say be careful cause you really dont know what color its gonna turn it being that your pregnant now....hope all goes well...

Can you paint your nails though? are just not get them done professionally?

just not professionally I was told it was b/c of the fumes

im dying my hair today doc said that as long as i wasnt in my first trimester and it was low fumes and in a well vented room =D

I go to school for Cosmetology and there is actually no proven fact that it can effect the baby what so ever. So feel free to do your hair  

Hmm I don't know. I was told to try bigen which is henna I believe. It doesn't have the harmful chemicals that the hair color in a salon has. So good luck.

i did my hair at 11 wks...and my hair is growing like crazy my hair is in dire need of some TLC...so i plan on doing some shaping and coloring to it this weekend..as long as you are in a well ventillated area should be fine...i wear a little face mask just incase, you know the ones the nail ppl wear when they start doing your nails...i do that just to not inhale the fumes...
