Drop Side Rail

How important is getting a crib that has a drop side rail? I've already begun pricing cribs, and have found a few reasonably priced ones with/without the dropping rail.

Any pros/cons you mommies would like to share about cribs with/without the drop side?

My crib does not have a drop side rail. Sorry do not have any pros or cons yet as I am due in 12 days. My crib is Baby Italia from Babies R Us. I love the whole set. Pricey, but worth it in the end because he will be able touse everything once he gets older.

I bought one that does... At work we have ones that dont, and it makes it harder to lay a sleeping baby in a crib when the rail doesnt drop down... When they get bigger you have to lower the mattress and the child gets heavier... It just makes things easier to have a drop side.

I am tall so I am hoping that I will be ok without one!

I didn't have a drop side and it wasn't too bad for me. But I am 5'6'' so it could have been my height which helped but I also had a big boy who weighed 13 lbs at 1 month and over 20 at 6 months
