packing bags?

okay so this weeekend ive decided im going to pack my bags for the hospital but im not sure exactly what i need? i have seen post on this before but never saved the lists can somebody help me out please!!

Labour Checklist:


These items may be useful to you during time of labour.

• Bathrobe
• Slippers
• Warm Socks
• Extra underwear
• Lip balm
• Hard candies
• Lotion for massages
• Snacks for your birthing partner
• Change for phone calls and vending machines
• Phone numbers for people waiting to hear the good news
• Books
• Tapes
• A tape/CD player
• Eyeglasses
• A stopwatch for timing contractions
• Paper and pencil
• Camera with film and flash
• Baby book for recording baby's first footprint

Hospital Checklist:


These items may be useful to you after the delivery of your baby.

• Fresh nightgown (with openings in front if you plan on breast feeding)
• Plenty of cotton underwear
• Sanitary napkins
• Nursing Bra (if planning to breastfeed)
• Nursing Pads (even if you plan to bottle feed as you may still leak)
• Baby names book
• Basic toiletries such as shampoo, antiperspirant, toothbrush etc.

Going Home Checklist:


These items will be useful when you are ready to go home.

• An outfit for yourself such as a fourth or fifth-month maternity outfit
• "Coming home" outfit for baby
• Receiving blanket
• Diapers and diaper wipes
• Snowsuit (in winter)
• Hat or bonnet
• Booties or socks
• Bottle, nipples and formula (if you're bottle feeding)
• Infant car seat that is installed correctly.

Baby wipes - my hospital didn't use them and I had to send my hubby to the store to buy them!

do they give u diapers in the hospital or do u have to bring your own?

haha i know its a stupid question but i wanted to be sure!! lol

My necessities were: Chapstick, my pillow from home, extra socks (it's TMI, but you will most likely get blood on your socks when you arechanging your PP "diapers"), change of clothes for going home, change of clothes for the baby.

I followed the checklist in on of the pregnancy books, and found that I didn't need have the stuff they suggested I bring. The hospital provided a lot of things (slippers, robe, shampoo/soap for shower, they even gave me toothpaste and mouthwash). They also have everything you need for the baby (they gave me baby wash, diapers, washclothes).

Oh and bring supersized pads! They have them there, but on my last day I ran out of the ones they provided, so I just opened the pack I brought. If you plan to nurse you will want a nursing bra, and possibly nursing pads (although you probably won't start to leak right way).

i was never one to use pads i used tampons what sanitary napkins did u use??

Not stupid at all! Hell, I assumed they had baby wipes and they didn't. You would think they would provide the necessities - but that is not always the case!

petrollium jelly
baby powder
diaper rash cream
breast feeding pillow
receiving blankets
sleepers
onsies
bibs
pacifer
going home outfir
shampoo/body wash etc.
Car Seat
baby hat/mitts for hands
baby nail clippers (as they are born with long nails)
baby shoes/socks
wash cloths

For you...
robe/slippers
pj's
pads
toiletroes: toothpaste/brush
shampoo/body wash
going home outfit that is still materinity (as you will not be back to your pre-pregnancy weight just yet )
an extra pillow as you may need it and blanket
hair brush
Camera (video and digital) with battery charger
your wallet with health insurance, ID, and penfor filling out hospital forms.

I am sure I am missing a few and it may sound like a lot but I am sure you'll need it.
