Surrogacy

I want to know how this works.  For some reason, I am just really intrigued.  I know that I could never give one of my babies up for adoption but I think that if I had the chance to do this, I would.

Has anyone on here actually done this?  If so, was it hard (to give the baby up I mean)?

my god mother was going to do this but after thinking about it alot she decided she could never give up the baby

I would think it would be hard.  

I've heard it's gooood money but I don't think I could give the baby up afterwards./

I think surrogacy is the most awesome thing a woman could ever do for another woman, i think most surrogacies are done with a moms egg and a dads sperm and put into the serrogate mother so the baby has no genetic ties to the surrogate mom in any way, now of course if there is a probelm with either the sperm or egg a donor is used for that too, i just think its such an awesome gift and i think its wonderful there are women out there willing to give of themselves to another woman and family in that way, what better of a gift can you give to someone but to carry their child for them if they can't carry it for themselves

I have been TTC for 10+ years and I am SERIOUSLY looking into surrogacy if it doesn't happen soon.

I am sure it would be hard to give one up, but a lot of people who do it don't want children.

My "sister/friend" has 2 babies conceived from surrogacy from a friend.

Not sure where to find info on it, maybe just google it.

I would LOVE to do it...but only if I knew the parents...and would be able to see the baby. I think it'd be SO hard if I could never see him/her.

I've wondered myself...My sister asked me the other day if I would ever be a surrogate for her. She is afraid to have a child because she is Type 1 diabetic and has thyroid issues. I didn't know what to say. Of course she is my sister and I would love to give her the gift of a child, but I think it would behard to have a child and not be able to raise it as my own. I wouldn't want to be considered selfish for not doing it though...I don't know...

The movie Baby Mama explains most of it out. I saw it last night.   It was good, but besides that, it would be really hard to give up a baby. I would cry forever and probably hate myself.

I know that I don't want anymore children and I was watching Dr.Phil today about uterus transplants and I just thought of surrogacy.  I thought to myself that if I could donate my uterus, I would.  It was just something I was thinking.  

I wanted to see Baby Mama.  

I would love to be a surrogate one day for someone i think it is an amazing gift to be able to give. No idea how dh would feel about it but yea

I think it's absolutely amazing, and something that I would actually consider doing one day. To be able to give the gift of a child to someone else who isn't quite as capable as I am. My body works fine. It's not there fault that they can't carry a child and to be able to give someone the oppertunity to have their OWN baby would be an amazing experience.

I have no doubt that it would be hard to give up a baby you carry, but I do know you have to go through a lot of tests...physical and psycological. I haven't done it but have told my best friend if she ever wanted to go that direction I would do it for her. I think as long as the surrogate looks at the baby as the other couples child it would make it easier to give up that baby in the end.
