I'm 16 years old and my son is due in october which is two months after school starts for me. There isn't really anyone for me to take him and since i need to get back to school soon after he is born i was thinking of doing online homeschooling. Does anyone know if its any good?

I know that they have alternative schools that offer daycare while you are at school. They also have....the name of it is slipping my mind.... but it is like a classroom online. You log in everyday and post to the discussion boards and take tests online. If I can remember the name I will let you know.

Good Luck

Check with your high school. They may have names of places for you. Here in Utah there is an online site through the board of education I think. You just have to pay for books for some classes.

Theres pennfoster.com and they are an online high school but its like 900 bucks.

I think u have to go thru ur local school for names of homeschooling places. My sister did it thru Ecot and it was HORRIBLE. Just don't go thru them, they were constantly loosing her work. I know there are some free ones and there are ones u have to pay for. A lot of students homeschool now, probably safer!

You can go to Alternative and take him to a daycare.

Online classes are a tricky way to go cause a lot of times they dont' take the credits you already earned, so you start from scratch.

I can't take him to a daycare- around here they're like 500 dollars a week and the only place that would hire me makes me work only 15 hours a week. i've been trying to find a new job. Its not working out. The only schools around here that have a free daycare in them are schools in the wrong neighborhoods that always get bomb threats and i'd much rather not leave him in one of those.

Most places have a thing for teen moms. you get a discount or even sometimes for free.

I can't direct you to where to go(although occasional University's/college's sometimes have programs here in Canada) but can tell you that your success in Home schooling, or what it seems you are more accurately looking for, Distance Education, is actually subject to you. I mean for some people it is a good option for others not really.

I was homeschooled and we used A Beka Books thats what katy jo was talking about. We didn't do the stuff online though......when I grad. I took the GED and so did my brother. I'm not sure what the rules are 4 where you live but here after you turn 16 they don't have to check you at the end of the year anymore.
go to www.abeka.com and check it out. I'll ask my friends for more info.
