wondering....

can you still go into active labor if you haven't dialated but are 100% effaced? i went to the doctor this morning. i am a finger-tip dialated and 50% effaced. also what exactly does effaced mean?

effaced means your cervix is thinning out/getting shorter. My water broke and I went into active labor with my first at 1cm dialated and 80% effaced.

ok so that mean i have 50% more to go and then what? i don't understand this i have researched and it is so confusing to me.

You can go into active labor any time your water breaks, OR you dialate fully, OR are 100% effaced. As far as I know, anyway. It can be triggered by any of the above.

yep you have fifty percent more to go, and contractions should diolate you thats what they are for, the definition of being in labor my dr told me is change. for instance im 4 and a half cm diolated but only 50% effaced. it will happen when time comes course i know sex helps diolate you and drinking red leafe rahsphberry tea over a long period of time helps soften your cirvex so that would make diolateing easyer
