Diabetes???

So I went this morning to take my GTT test and I failed   so I get to go back tommrrow and do the 4 hour test. What are the chances of it coming back and me finding out I have ges. Diabetes? Im really upset about this!!! First my baby has CDH, then I find Im a carrier of cystic fibrosis now this??? Why? this isnt fair!!!

It's not that big of a deal..although I know how stressful it can be because I was the same way. You just have to watch what you eat a little more..You'll be fine=)

So Its not gonna hurt the baby? Im just worried about him!!! But I will be sad if I have to change my diet. I dont eat junk food much but I do enjoy some sweets now that Im preggo

You can still have sugar you just have to be careful. It won't hurt your baby if you follow your doctors orders and you don't just eat when/what you want. Basically, as long as you're testing and you know when your sugar gets high/low...You and the baby will be fine. If they find that you can't control it on your own, they will probably just prescribe something to help your body level itself.

Yup, I have it and it's actually not that bad. It does get a little frustrating at times that you can't eat exactly what you want or as much of it as you want but it's doable.  
And depending how bad you have it, if you actually do have it, you can still "be bad" and eat out, you just have to watch what you eat...I love Arby's and I've found that I can still have a roast beef sandwich and some curly fries with cheese sauce and my glucose still stays within the acceptable range  

Cool. I just really hope that tommrrows test goes well. Im just nervous about everything! Thanks for the support! I am new to all this.

I just took mine too. No results yet. Don't worry sweetie. The doctors will take care of you. You'll be okay. Just stay strong, you can do this.

I took mine6 wks ago failed it & failed the 3 hr test & was told I have gestational diabeties its worse than it sounds the worst part is having to watch how much sugar you eat esp when you have cravings of sweets, BUt good luck & if you do have it it is not as bad as you think, & just remember you only usually have to watch it thru the pregancy & the little one is worth anything extra we have to do!!!!!!

Yeah the 3hr test was hell! Lucky for me another girl was there and we got to chat the whole time   One more question... do I have to prick my finger? I hate that! I really do! Im fine with needles but the finger prick hurts really bad! Im like a little kid and I cry and complain the whole time! Plus Ill look silly whining about it if I have to do it to myself a couple times a day  and Ill I can think about is the commercials with the fat guy with a mustacshe  " Do you have Diabetes? " HAHA why yes, yes I do

Sad to say yeah you prob will have to I have to in the morn b4 i eat & at night b4 bed some people depending on how their test comes out they have to check it moring night & b4 & after each meal.

I just went through this myself and totally freaked too. I had to wait a whole week before they could do the other glucose test so you can imagine how worried I was. I ended up passing the test and not having GD so I am really happy. I know its hard but try not to worry too much because I did and it was for nothing because everything is just fine. I think this happens alot and usually the next test comes out good. Good luck Im sure you and the baby will be just fine either way!

Okay sorry! Stupid me I just now noticed this, after I already replied to your original post. At least you know now and can take good care of yourself and the baby. I think it usually goes away after you give birth so keep your chin up!

Lame! Oh well ... I just got off the phone with the diabetes people and I have a appt for tommrrow so I guess Ill learn everything i need to know! Damn I dont wanna prick my finger! Im gonna make Daddy 2 be do it when ever hes home! That way I can act like a brat and get away with it   Gotta prep him for a whiny kid anyway right?

You know what, the finger prick isn't that bad...I have to test mine 4X a day and it's no biggie....I worked for years as a hairdresser so my fingers are pretty callous and tough so they even had to move the needle thingy up a notch to pierce the skin and it still isn't bad.

I personally think the worst part is that I can't have M&M's anymore..but I'm making a big list of all the things I want after I have my little girl..LOL...And I told my husband I expect them to be in the house when I get home from the hospital
