Alternative to baby shower

posted 14th Jul
Has anyone had a baby sprinkle or diaper party instead of a shower ?
I wanted to do a diaper party but not sure how they work .

Really I just want my family and friends to get together before baby arrives and we don't need any big baby items just essentials like diapers , wipes, onesies etc ...

Ideas thoughts?

Here in Australia people rarely have baby showers, Mainly people either bring something for the baby to the hospital or come visit you at home in the first few weeks and bring something if they want to.

Diaper partys are usually for the guys. Or for the partying croud. The ones i have been to, the parents get a keg and the guest bring diapers or wipesand they can drink all they want.
My husband is going to have a poker game/diaper party. They are all going to play poker with a 10$ buy in. Whoever wins the money has to (at least) split the winnings with him for the baby.

We had a bbq and people just brought diapers and stuff. The only gifts we got were from our close family everyone else just got us small stuff. It was fun we all went swimming and just hung out. None of the baby shower games or stuff just fun.

I would send a little note in your shower invitations...Tell everyone what you have, and what you would like to get. My husband and I did this in our wedding invitations because we had already had a lot of our household items. Make your shower as informal as you like!

I know a lot of ladies who have blessing ways which is basically a group of the womans closest friends get together and share positive birth stories and basically encourage her as she is pregnant. I think that sort of thing is awesome! I also had a friend whose MIL had a "frozen meal shower" and everyone who attended brought her a meal that could be frozen to be thawed and heated after the baby was born, genius!
