i am planning on breastfeeding. it is really good for the baby but my mom and sisters in law told me it hurts really babd untill you get used to it. but if you stick it out it is a great bonding time for you and baby.

My first daughter took right to it... the second had trouble but when I started back to work she refused to breastfeed! This time I am staying at home and I hope he does well with it! Good luck!

With my son I breastfeed for approx 5 month. Then because I was going out more often during the day and I wouldn't BF in public my supply decreased and I had to stop. However I do wish I could have continued for a longer period. It truly is a special bond between a mother and their child and I felt terrible stopping soo early.

Quoting KristyRose:“ I went to a breastfeeding class, and the nurse said that 75% of new moms are starting out breastfeeding ... [snip!] ... Did it suck, or did you stick it out? I am planning on breastfeeding but I have inverted nipples, so we'll see how it goes.”

I have been doing it for the past ten months now and I have to say if you can stick it out the first coupple months you will be fine. Just think you wont have to wash so many bottles, or buy expencive formula thats not so great for the baby anyways... my daughter got sick every time i tryed giving it to her we tryed 5 or 6 diff. kinds. The first few weeks are hardest and it IS going to hurt most likely because your nipples get sore cuz theyre not used to it but if you can be tough and stick it out after that its so easy and painless....

I'm breastfeeding my daughter exclusively (no bottles, no supplementings). She is almost 4 months old and I love it   Best decision I ever made.
My big positives:
Healthiest for her
No getting out of bed to warm a bottle
No dragging bottles with me when we go out
No waiting for the bottle to warm while she screams

Quoting Jessie [Kelsie's mommy]:“ Maybe you can answer a question for me since you've nursed more than one. Does it hurt with 2nd (or ... [snip!] ... painful, but when it stopped I nursed her for 15 months. I just want to know if I should expect the same pain with this baby.”
For me, it didnt hurt with my 2nd and 3rd. I think too that I was more relaxed and knew what to expect as well which may have contributed. I always keep a tube of Lansinoh Lanolin balm (I always found my in the section with bottles etc) for the first few weeks in case I needed it. Good luck this time around!

thanks for the help.   i used the lansinoh with my first, too, but it still hurt...lol. i'm sure it'll be better, though.
