They say alcoholism is a disease.

I call bullshit.

A disease doesn't teach you to pick up a bottle and start drinking.

I say it's enviromental.

I agree it is a disease, Its the disease of addiction.

I'm saying, if its a genetic passed on disease then how come little kids aren't already drinking?

No, Like many people they start with one, one day then move on and need more and more, Its an addiction.

I have a drug addict as a sister and her daughters father is a alcoholic, they are both currently clean, But they are called addicts because of the addiction they had.

Well, my friend tried to tell me she was an alcoholic because her parents passed on the gene.

I told her it was bullshit, she didn't have to start drinking.

My sister is a addict.

I went through a stage where my doctor was going to class me as an alcoholic.

If so, then shouldn't she be wanting it right now?

I'm not saying an addiction is not a real thing, what I guess I should of posted is that I do not believe it's a genetic thing.

That is bullshit. My father is a recovering alcoholic. Sober for 4 years now and still goes to meetings everyday, sometimes twice a day.

While I think that it is some form ofa disease (of addiction). It is NOT a medical disease, I think its more of a mental issue. You have to be able to find the will power and the strength to overcome that addiction.

It's an excuse.

Hopefully she isn't.

But the gene is there it could possbible happen if she tries something and needs it more and more, not necesarily drugs or alcohol there is also gambling and collecting stuff as well.
