Nope, I'm an air medical dispatcher. Work in a ER at a Level 1 trauma center. I'll be done with nursing school in a little over a year.
Our dispatch center is right next to radiology. They have some awsome equipment! Learn everything you can and NEVER stop! And education is priceless.

I know, I LOVE it, seriously. I was supposed to start my 1500 hours of clinicals this fall semester but since I'm pregnant I can't, and I can't do it in spring either cause I have the baby that semester, so I'm not going back until next fall but I'm taking some side classes to help me with some other things. They teach us to do the IV but we don't learn anything else, so I'm taking Phlebotomy and an EMT course to learn the new ways of CPR and some other things. The more I have under my belt the easier I'll get a job when I'm done.

I'm really late, but....I think alcoholism is a mixture of both. I think it starts out environmental butends in a disease. Social mixers, business meetings. It all depends on the individual's mental well being if they can keep it strictly environmental.

I'm so fasinated with the medical feild. Everytime I go in for something I ask tons of questions.

I seriously, died twice from cardiac arrest for a drug induced heart attack (not my fault, doctors gave me medicines that didn't mix.) and once I was awake, I was asking questions they were amazed. I just love it. I watch Discovery Health all the time, haah.

Well, a lot of people have an issue with binge drinking but not alcoholism. I think binge drinking is absolutely environmental. I even get cravings for it now but I know if I were to drink one drink I wouldn't be sent into a whirlwind of drinking and hiding bottles and NOT being able to let go of it. Binge drinkers can stop drinking whenever they want to. Alcoholics need help to, and have to go through detox and rehab. Bleh, this is so hard to explain lol.

Me 2. For me though, it's about helping people. I find GREAT personal satsifaction in that.

Me too. And I've had a lot of health problems in my life and I just want to assure the people that are going through the same thing that it can be okay.

I wasn't referring to binge specically, but that being with peers co-workers is what starts it. Who decides to take that firstdrink alone? Ya know? They drink at a few parties and decide they like how it makes them feel and then it escalades(sp) into ....disease. Thats what happened to my Uncle. Started drinking with family memebers, now he must drink at least 4-5 a day, most often more. He's an 55 y/o in a 90 y/o's body. He was told years ago to stop or he would die. He couldn't. That to me is disease. I didn't read every response, BTW.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But people who have the "disease" don't realize that drinking is going to trigger it. And by that point they can't really control their cravings/addiction anymore. And most of them don't realize that it's a problem when they're drinking a handle of vodka alone lol.

Mainland Japan, near Tokyo. Okinawa is BEAUTIFUL! I went there a few months ago and I didn't want to leave. I've been told it's what Hawaii was like a long time ago before all the tourists came and ruined it. I say it's a Japanese-style Mexico.

I don't believe DRINKING is the disease...lot's of people do drugs recreationally...or drink socially..and NEVER become addicted.

The people with the genetic predisposition towards alcoholism or drug addiction are the ones who tried it...and then COULD NOT STOP.

So basically...its a disease that needs to be "turned on" to start killing you.
