No, I don't like the immigration situation (hey that rhymes), anymore than anyone else. I just realize that nothing is being done about it. So I don't waste my time worrying about it. To me, the war, the economy, health care, social security, ect.....are of much more importance. We're never going to be able to keep everyone out, it's just not going to happen.

Well, I think it could happen if politicians grew some balls. I think that with the amount of damage they actually do to our country, it should be a more important issue.

I've thought about this a lot and how a politician could actually do something about our borders without offending all the hispanics and losing their votes. I think we should just have one big vote on it  That way, the Americans are to blame and neither of the parties have to ruin their spotless reputations

Alright, since you love Obama so much, we can chat about him...

Obama keeps promising more and more money to special interest groups. Just for the things he has promised in his speeches, they are estimating that he plans on spending around $800 BILLION http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/02/obamas_gloomy_biggovernment_vi.html

He claims he is going to be cutting taxes for the poor and middle class while raising taxes on the rich. If he raises taxes up to 39% for the rich while simultaneously giving all the tax cuts he has promised to the poor and middle class, he will end up with a $80 billion deficit. All the money that is supposed to be coming in from the rich will easily be offset by the tax cuts he is promising the poor and middle class.

The federal budget is around $3 Trillion per year, and Obama has promised over $800 Billion in new spending. Either he's completely lying and he's not going to fund all the projects he is promising or he's not going to be able to give all those tax cuts he's promising to the poor and middle class. The richest 1% alone can't foot the $800 Billion bill.

But let's pretend he TRIED to make the top 1% of wage earners pay for all his spending. The top 1% of wage earners already pay 37% of the federal income tax received. That's more than $1 Trillion of federal money that comes just from the top 1%. If he needs $800 Billion more money from those people, he's going to have to double their taxes. The rich can't pay 78% of their money in federal income taxes. After FICA, state and local taxes, sales taxes and any other taxes, they wouldn't have any money.

So I'd love to know where you think Obama is going to get the money for all the projects he is promising. If he can't come up with $800 Billion (a conservative estimate) then he's got to be lying about something.

As far as I know, $3.5 Trillion is quite a bit more than $800 Billion. The only reason that we don't have the money to do the things Obama has talked about is because we're funding this damn war. He has already put forth his views on that subject, and I don't expect us to be throwing that money out for too much longer if he takes office.

I read the article you posted, and though I have a feeling it's quite biased, I don't really see a problem with anything it spoke of.
$150 Billion for the Green Energy Plan
$60 Billion for the Infrastructure Investment Bank
$65 Billion for Health Insurance Expansion
All seem like good plans to me. And still don't quite add up to the $3.5 Trillion we're spending on war.

I LOVE the idea of regulating the profits for drug companies, health insurance, and energy firms. They're profiting entirely too much from the different lacking of Americans.

I'd like to know your thoughts on outsourcing, since it is mentioned in this article. Personally, I hate it. How are we supposed to sustain our economy when most of our dollars, and jobs are going overseas? I'd sure like to know how a reduction in the corporate tax rate could "fix" the problem.

The way I see it, we can't get out of this mess without either raising taxes, or ending the war. Either way, in my opinion, Obama has it right. All I hear from McCain is "100 more years in Iraq." That just makes me sick. The war is driving us into economic depression, and it's dividing the country. It needs to end, and Obama is the one to end it.

I'm not sure where you're getting $3.5 Trillion as the cost of the Iraq war. Even if the article you posted, the total they are estimating by 2009 is $1.6 Trillion. Wars end, so the money we spend at war is not going to be a leech on our economy forever. Implementing new government programs are much, much harder to get rid of.

We have been at war since 2003 and let's say the war DOES total $1.6 Trillion by 2009 (6 years in). $1.6 Trillion divided by 6 years is $266 Billion per year for war. Obama wants to implement spending 3Xs what the Iraq war is costing us. If you think the economy is hurting from the cost of the Iraq war, just wait until you see the strain that $800 Billion in new spending will put on a weak economy with a president who is actually NOT going to be pulling out of Iraq immediately (like he would have you believe).

Why should the government regulate profits of any private business? We are a free market, are we not? If I want the government getting involved of every aspect of my life, businesses, religion, school, etc...then I'd move to a communist country.

I don't really have a problem with outsourcing. American companies are set up to do whatever is most cost effective, and in return, we get better prices when companies choose to outsource. Why should we require private companies to stay in a country that will hurt their business? Because it's Anti-American? Not good enough for me. I don't like government regulation, whether it be in my private life or in private businesses.

As far as McCain saying we'll be in Iraq for 100 years: McCain didn't say he wants to be at war for 100 years or even that we will be actively fighting in Iraq for 100 years. He said we may have a military presence there for as long as 100 years. Are we still at war with Korea? No. But do we still have a military presence there? Yes.
