that depends on the hospital. mine didnt make me turn mine off or let it wear off. they just told me when to push. even though i could tell b/c i did feel pressure when i had contractions.

you still felt it to the point where you thought you were going to die while pushing  did it not work right? 'cause I've spoken to many women who have had the epidural at the hospital where I will be delivering and they said they didn't feel any pain.. just pressure

It worked through most of the contractions but it wore off completely by the time he was crowning

at my hospital, they give you a little button so you can control the amount of medicine given through the epidural. they have actually found that since letting women have this button, that less medication is used compared to the doctor controlling the amount of medicine. I guess because you know your limits better than the doctor.

so I know it's supposed to be like the most painful thing I'll ever go through...buuuut damn you all are scaring me! haha I want to try it all natural and no drugs and all, but I just don't know....now I'm thinking about just telling the doctor to rip him from my womb so I don't even go into labor at all! haha jk

it also depends on the person. mine was only working on half of my body for a while but he finally got it positioned just perfect to do the trick all over. but he did say that it varies from person to person. of course he said that BEFORE he got it working for me and i wanted to cry.

Actually.....My two labors were a breeze, no lie. I did have the epi but a few hours after having my water broken, both times.

I got uncomfortable, but I wasn't in real pain.

I do have a very high pain tolerance. I got in a car accident, got my head busted wide open, didn't even know it.

also, they have like a set limit for a certain amount of time so you can't just keep on pressing the button to the point where you're overdosing on it haha

try to go natural as far into it as possible.. its bad.. but if you breath right and everything and have other things to try and concentrate on you'll get through it.. i'm going natural next time again ( i didn't have a choice this time )

Pushing is the worst part.
I've had my fair share of painful experiences as well, and I can tell you, there is NOTHING that compares to pushing a child out of your vag. NOTHING.
