re: Labor is supposed to be painless?

I can bet you a thousand $$ it does. The nurse kept telling me to breath through it and I wanted to choke her until I actually tried.

When I worked hard on breathing though them I was in a lot less pain. If only I was able to get into a position I felt comfortable in. It would have been much better.

But I also am very in touch with my body and have fairly good mind control. Sadly not a lot of women do though.

before i got my epi i wasnt in that much pain( only reason i got the epi was cause of myBP), but as soon as i got the epi i slept through the whole entire thing. even when i was pushing, they had to keep waking me up to push. I really didnt feel anything, until the drugs wore off!

Painless?!
I heard that natural childbirth can be one of the most painful experiences someone can endure.

I feel like I'm really in tune with my body as well.

Idk, Maybe I'll "explore" some of these ideas and see what some mommies had to say about them. It's not like they can make it any worse considering I'm not going to have any drugs at all lol.

I believe that it is possible to be fully calmed down to a point where you're relaxed so that it doesn't necessarily register that it hurts that bad, but I think regardless of that, child birth is painful. Whether you have an epidural/spinal or not, it's possible to be able to control the pain with your thought processes, and your pain tolerance, and breathing exercises. Pain is only registered through your brain, the nerve endings send signals to your brain, and your brain processes this as pain.

*edited to add* If you focus your thoughts on something else, whether it be seeing the baby, something on the wall, or even just your breathing, it takes your mind away from the pain, thus not allowing it to be fully registered that you're in fact, in it, and it won't be as sharp.

To have a succesful drug free birth youitsbeststay at home and only go to the hospital at the very last minute. Being confined to a bed with monitors strapped to you and that stupid IV (which was horrable because it made me FREEZING cold) makes it soo much harder and worst than it has to be.

And if you know how to breath correctly then YES breathing helps a LOT during a contraction. But wow the feeling of the baby decende into the birth canal was the worst for me. The contractions where not soo bad but feeling her head move lower and lower HURT ahhh thinking about hurts. and pushing out holy crap just thinking about it hurts.

i didn't have a choice about the epi not working.. but i am not even going to choose the epi next time... it hurt pretty bad.. but it was just awesome at the same time..

Seriously.
Man, when I was pushing, someone might as well have been shoving a dump truck up my vag. I wouldn't have known the difference.
