Bottle, or no bottle?

posted 12th Jul
My daughter will be 1 in 1 week exactly. She drinks from a sippy cup full time..except for at night. right before she goes to bed, she has always always had a bottle. (I do not put her to bed with it though). Should I let this continue? I know babies "should be" broken from the bottle by the time they are 1...but this nighttime bottle thing is going to be a hard habit to break. Should I continue with it? If so, until what age? And how could I go about stopping this part of her bedtime routine?

Keep in mind, she now gets a bedtime snack as well...its not much...usually a bowl of yogurt or some crackers...

I let my daughter have her nighttime bottle until 14 months (she's 15 now). She slept better with a full tummy. She just kind of weaned herself off of it and became more interested in "real" food.

I'm really proud of you for not laying her down with a bottle! Good for you... and HER!

Thanks! I refuse to...I never have and I never will. There are nights when I want to...because a bottle seems to calm her and help her sleep better...but I won't.

Thats what she uses for during the day. She doesn't know how to use the hard spout sippies yet...she has a soft sippy and a straw sippy. And that is fine with me. a sippy is a sippy, right? I just wondered when I should cut out the bottle, and just give her more of a bedtime snack instead?

you might try to transition to the sippy instead of the bottle.. then just cut it out.. it might be easier for her.. it might take a little longer but it should be easier..

At 11 months I took away Hailey's last bottle (bedtime) and tried a sippy cup..that worked for a couple of days.. then she started refusing it.

So I offered NO bottle, NO sippy cup.. Just the paci and rocked her to sleep like always..

On May 28th I opened my last can of formula and used one scoop out of it . She was bottle/formula broke by 11 1/2 months.
