what do braxton hicks feel like?

this is my first baby and last night i've been having really strong period like cramps right underneath my abdomin. it will last for about 30 seconds to a minute then go away. then about 10-15 minutes later, they come again. it was ongoing for about a couple of hours. people have told me that braxton hicks feel like strong period like cramps and your tummy feels hard to the touch but how can i really tell? my baby has either his butt or back in the middle of my tummy and it's hard so it is hard for me to tell if they are contractions. are there any other ways of telling if these were contractions???

If they're Braxton Hicks contractions, doing basically the opposite of what you were doing when you were having them SHOULD make them stop.

Like, if you were standing up, sit down. If you were sitting down, stand up. If you were laying down, sit up, etc etc.

Those probably were bh contractions... or very mild real contractions. I've been getting bh contractions A LOT lately. And I know what you mean when their back or butt sticks out in the middle, but when you have bh contractions, your whole uterus becomes ROCK hard, or it can just be your top uterus as well. Sometimes when my belly becomes hard it'll be hard for me to move and I'll just feel like laying down, or rocking my body until it goes away.

yeah well i was standing in the kitchen and it just hit me so i kinda bent over and could barely move or they would've gotten worse. i was feeling my tummy to see if it was rock hard but it's hard to tell. plus this morning i got little cramps on the top of my abdomen. prolly from the way he was turning. oh and did i mention i hate getting up to pee in the middle of the night and my hips aching.......i know i'm not the only one.

I'm in the same boat as you, hun. There have been a few moments where I'm pretty sure I've had BH's, but until I have more I wont know for sure. My daughter always seems to have her butt out when I have one, I don't know if that's just coincidence or what.

haha...yeah it's cute when they do that but gosh darnit, it's very uncomfortable. my little boy moves sooooo much. it's like he's on a see-saw in my tummy. he moves from one side to the other and i'm 34 weeks. i think he should be running out of room by now but i think he thinks otherwise.

oh and who gets numbness in their either one of their arms and legs from time to time???? i know i do.

Haha i know exactly what you mean. It's crazy how much your balance has changed late in pregnancy and just having to move around is a challange! I can't just get up and go from bed in the middle of the nite, I have to turn to my side, then lift myself with my arms and waddle to the bathroom. And oh the sweatiness, I get night sweats like crazy
