books for husbands...

posted 20th Sep
i was wondering if anybody could recomend some books for my husband so he can get an idea of how im changing and how to deal with me.
the man has no clue, and acts like a 2 year old and yells and screams back at me if i happen to have a moment and flip out. i really dont want to kill him, so im trying to find some literature to keep him informed!!!
thanks so much!!!

there are a passel of books out there about pregnancy. we've got an entire weekly book club

the one we've specifically recommended for dads-to-be is:The Expectant Father.

still, it sounds a little unfair that you're expecting him to not react when you're flipping out.

if you're acting all crazy (b/c of hormones), it's pretty understandable that he freaks out as well. crazy is crazy, whether or not it's hormonally induced-- once one of you is allowed to throw tantrums, the other one is going to as well. try to explain to him how you're feeling. being pregnant isn't an excuse to act like a psycho.

hope the books help!

There's a funnybook called Don't lose It, Use It! Practical Uses for Your Postpartum Belly on Lulu.com. It's full of instructional pictures about what to do with your fat belly after childbirth. Hilarious!

There's a book preview at this link:

My fiance's mom got him The Guys Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the First Year of Fatherhood, by Micheal Crider. Its not really "technically" informative, but its pretty funny. And i think it helps reassure him that yeah, what we're both feeling is pretty normal.

As for the massive hormone rages, I usually tell my fiance that I know I'm being an irrational bitch right now, and try to stay away from him until i calm down...

If you go on whattoexpect.com, they have some good monthly and weekly articles for dads-to-be.http://whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/for-dad/landing-page.aspx

My husband was nagging me constantly about how much time I spend in bed when I get home from work until I made him read these.
