When i would place my hand over my boy it really calmed him down and stabilised himwhen he was younger. You know where they position them in the snuggler, it could easily lay around the top. Infact they taught me to place my hands one over his head and the other over his legs/feet when i wasnt allowed to hold him, he was hanging on to his life by a thread and there was nothing else i could do. I have major problems with my spine and id be sitting there in agony, desperate to lie down because i was so dizzy, yet too scared to take my hands off him because his stats would go crazy. It was a total nightmare. Those things were exactly what i needed at the time!

I just dont find it funny, yeh the way they named it in that particular add is weird, but it is a thoughtful and helpful thing for both parents and baby. (its normally just called a Zacky). Jessica you personally wouldnt have used it, but im sure there are hundreds of preemie mums who would!

IDK maybe im jus sick of non preemie parents making joke out of things, if folk had lived one week of having a tiny preemie fighting for their lives, they wouldnt be so quick to judge and make rude comments. Life is a struggle but you adapt and do anything possible to help improve your babies lives and comfort levels, no matter what it is and how stupid it looks. When things seems so diar the smallest improvement can mean the world.

i was thinking this too. my birthing class istructor said her children all came early and the one that came the earliest was very weird about things touching him, like his nerve ending her sensitive or something.

Yeh babies under 26 weeks are only allowed limited sensory stimulation as they are so fragile. At 5 days old when i first got to see my lil one i was warned off too much touching, he wasnt allowed too much light or noise either. But generally after they settle down touch is incredibly helpful. Once a baby is over 2lbs/28 weeks kangaroo care (skin to skin contact for extended periods) is used specifically for helping them. It has been proven time and time again that those with frequent kangaroo care are more stable, have better health and go home quicker.

I don't think anyone is laughing at you or your situation. I personally don't think they are any more or less usefull than a good snuggly blankie but I wouldn't berate another mother (especially you) for wanting to do whatever you thought you could to make your little one more comfortable. I also think, however, that marketers and designers know how desperate us mothers are to make everything perfect for our children, that they'd market anything.
