Medicaid Question, HELP please:)
posted 11th Jul
Okay so i have a question about this medicaid stuff, I live in the state of Texas, and I have insurance but for some reason, my pregnancy is NOT covered under them and i tried to see if we payed extra or something if it could be, but no.. So we looked around and my only option was to apply for medicaid just for my pregnancy... I nor anyone in my family has ever had to apply for medicaid, so no one has been able to help me out with it.. I went to the health department yesterday then they said i had to wait 8-10 days for a phone interview, well that same day i recieved a call saying I have a phone interview at 11:30 on July 11th, today... Well it's 10 after 12, and i still haven't recieved a phone call, now i'm unsure on what to do, am i suppose to call them or what?? and also if any of you had to go through this, what kind of questions are they going to ask me? i'm soo lost, lol.. thanks in advance for any help!!!

if you have other insurance you might not get medicaid!

They do in person interviews here... but they will ask you pretty much everything about your income and expenses...
if you havent heard from a worker in another hour or two i would def call... after all, i know they work hard with a lot of people, but damn... we have lives too!!

im not completely positive on the whole tx thing. but im sure theyll wanna know things like income..proof of residency..positive test result..proof of your other insurance and that it doesn't cover pregnancy...things of that nature. i'd call them. those places are always SO DAMN busy.

If it doesnt cover her pregnancy she may be able to get medicaid for pregnant women. I got this.

I would call them and let them know you were expecting a call and you want to make sure everything is ok cause you havent gotten the call yet.

I'd call and find out what's going on. I've never had to do an interview to get Medicaid...just had to fill out a questionaire and turn in paperwork. Hope you get it all figured out!

You can still go to the doctor. They will make you claim responsibility for the bill, but once Medicaid kicks in it goes back 3 months and will cover the doctors appointments... i had to do the same thing...

its ok...just dont do too much worrying. if you do get approved most of the time they'll go back and cover medical bills to when you first found our you were pregnant. my sis had some troubles with hers and could get her medicaid until she was 22 weeks..and they went back all the way until jan. when she found out she was preg. and covered all of the medical bills. if you dont make too much you should qualify for mc+ my husbands insurance at work is 750 a month for baby and I...but we made too much to qualify for medicaid..but because we didn't make enought to afford the insurance they had to give it to me. sometimes you can get it and only pay so much of it ya know what i mean?

I have insurance through my employer and I was able to get medicaid. I know the reqirements in each state are different but you should be able to google your state and get some additional info!
Good luck and Congrats!!

Out here in AZ I have had phone interviews and sometimes they get caught up with another call because the interviewerhad a lot of things to ask. Anyway, they generally ask about income, proof of residency, who lives with you, proof of other isurance, and proof of pregnancy. You might have to go and fax in information or just take it in so they can take copies of everything but be sure you have all of it. I got preganancy related coverage and that was it for me with my first. It helped out a lot. With my second child I had full coverage but it still helped me out with the pregnancy and all of that. Just be honest about everything and you should be fine I am sure they have just pregnancy related coverage!

I live in Texas, too and applied for medicaid about 2 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for my phone interview. They never told me when to expect it other than within 10 days, but I called a couple days ago and they said don't bother calling them about it unless it's been over 3 weeks. I also have health insurance, but it barely covers anything. I have to meet my 600 deductible BEFORE I get maternity benefitis. It's BS. And we pay over $300 a month for it. We just barely qualify for the medicaid, but I can't wait until we get it. If you haven't gotten a call within a day or two, then just give your local office a call, or leave your case worker a message. I dont even know who my case worker is....
