SPD! Help!!

posted 10th Jul
I just found out that I have SPD and I am absolutely about to die!! It hurts so bad, I just wanted to know if anyone else has suffered with this and what did you do to soothe any of the pain... I've heard of women ending up in wheelchairs, and I only have 6 more weeks, I hope I don't end up in a wheelchair, but I can hardly walk, it's terrible!!!

Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD)

Many women experience discomforts during pregnancy that they had never experienced before. During pregnancy, your body produces hormones and body parts shift to meet the demands of your growing baby. Your body produces a hormone known as relaxin during pregnancy. Relaxin softens the ligaments in your pelvis to enable your baby to pass through your pelvis. Normally, the two halves of your pelvis do not move very easily because the symphysis pubis is strengthened by ligaments. If one side of your pelvis moves more than the other side, you can experience pain and inflammation. This can happen when you walk or move your legs and the pain can become severe.

It could possibly be! Ask your doctor.

Wow just read this post... Im somewhat upset now... there is a good chance I could have this as well... my midwife just told me it was normal. I didnt think it was normal to fall on your face when you get out of bed because your legs hurt so much.

Yep... a lot of doctors say "it's normal" until the pain becomes excruciating and then they realize it's something else. I complained to my doctor about it several times until she actually did some tests and discovered that it was SPD.

My doctors didnt do tests... it was so bad that i couldnt walk or take care of my son... i switched doctors the day before my due date and that doctor took me seriously and induced me...
