Down Syndrome

Please be nice....
I just got a call that my Triple Screen Scan came back positive for Down Syndrome. I am completley distraught and cannot stop crying. I know the test is probobly not 100% accurate, but still Im super scared. Not one person in our family has ever suffered from this. Did any of you have a positive result when in fact it was negative??
Any words of Encouragement are appreciated....

Maybe a dumb question but what is a Triple Screen Scan???

I didn't do the test, because I wouldn't want to know. I would have loved my baby either way. My cousin did the test but it was negative. When the doc asked me and I said no - he was actually glad. He said that even in our small town that they do ALOT of abortions on totally healthy babies because the test says they MAY have Downs.

I know a family with a Downs baby - and he is the most wonderful child. I wish you luck either way!

i know it may be hard to take in right now.
but i have a little brother that has down syndrom and i would not trade him for the world.
if god didnt think you were stong enough to handle this, he would not present the obstacle.
if you have any questions or anything just ask ill do my best to tell you what i know.

My best friend just had a baby and hers came back positive for spina bifida but her baby was fine. I hope everything goes well for you.

Awww I'm sorry. I know no matter how many times you're told not to worry, you will until the moment your baby is in your arms. Like you said, the tests arent 100%. You're in my thoughts and prayers.   *hug*

I did that test when I was pregnant with my son and it came back completely normal. When Lincoln was born we found out that he has DS. So don't worry about the test too much. It's just your chances of having a child with DS. I know that it's easier said than done, but try not to stress too much it's not great for the little one, or you.

i did the test, and i know how it feels to worry about getting that call, i thank my lucky stars that i never got a positive. i know alot of kids and adults also with downs and they can be the smartest. i had a friend in high school who had downs and he was such a joy to have around, if at anytime i felt down i would go see him he would put a smile on my face everytime. but i also agree with tiffany, if god didnt think you could handle he wouldnt have given you that hurdle to jump. My ob-gyn also told me that just because it comes back positive doesnt mean that it really is. but just remember you will be blessed either way, a downs baby will be a big joy to have around just as much as a baby without it

yes i did w/ my first daughter ... and then they sent me to a diffent hospital w/ a huge screen and did another u/s it was neg ...... gl i know its scary but keep faith and pray hugs mamma

Have you had the Amnio?

Aw, I'm so sorry.

Just know there are A LOT of false positives with the triple screen test. That is one reason I didn't have it done.

No I didnt have that because Im only 26. That test is down for people who are over 35.

Nobody told me not to do that test, so I figured everybody did it, thats why I did it

If you have had a positive result for any of the Trisomy's they will offer the amnio to comfirm, demand it if you want to know for sure they cant deny you if they are telling you you have a high risk.

There are so many of the triple screens that bring back a false positive, go and talk to your doctor hun
