Hmmm... There are tons of threads on this... Its a very volatile subject and should at least be in D&D, but at any rate I don't agree with it.

I agree. I don't think abortion is right, but I don't think it should be made illegal either.

poeople will find other ways to kill the baby if abortion is illegal
(ex. taking drugs, excessive drinking, having someone hit them in the stomach...)

I dont agree with it after rape anymore because of the morning after pill it is given in every rape kit now an dif you get raped and dont go report it or go to the hospital you are retarded I developed cardiomyopathy with my first child and with this one I had 2 doctors basically ask me when I was having an abortion and I said there is no way I know my life is at risk but I could never abort my child my heart disease has not came back so far all I have right now is svt but it could at any time and I feel like my childs life is way more important than my own

how can you say that about medical cases? if it's fatal to the mother, than the mother will die, and the baby will to anyways. and can you honestly imagine being brutally raped, trying to cope and heal from that, and then finding out your pregnant? a woman wouldnt be mentally or emotionally prepared to be pregnant, let alone take care of a child whos father raped her.

that's true. and my mom had one, but then once she started TTC it took her 3 years to get pregnant...

Yeah, this does kinda seem like the wrong forum for this sort of comment.

That being said, while I share the sentiment that *I* would rather see each and every child get their fair shot at life, I think making it illegal isn't exactly the answer. I'm not comfortable with legal decisions that allow the government to tell me what I can and cannot do in my private life, and that includes my body. That *choice* needs to be protected. There are many places in the world where women are not able to choose one way or the other.

I too, have had an abortion. I was 16. Sure, I'm not going to lie to you, I was a teenager, and therefore part of the statistic. Actually? My birth control failed. I *was* on the Pill, much to my parents chagrin. When I came to them however, my parents told me to abort the child, or find a new place to live. If I had had a place to go to, or nearby family who could take me in, I would have. It was a very hard decision to make.

I don't necessarily believe however, that just because we protect the choice to be able to have abortions, that that should give women carte blanche to be irresponsible. I do support legislation that makes abortions after the first trimester illegal. After 3 months, I'm sorry, you've really had enough time to make a decision. I also support better sex education in our schools, particularly teaching young folks that it *is* OK to wait until you're ready. Sex is an adult activity and it requires some adult decisions. If someone isn't comfortable enough, or mature enough to handle a discussion on birth control, or is too "afriad" to ask for it, or to purchase condoms, etc. then they are not ready for the act itself.

Every circumstance is different. There are not many women out there who have abortions that talk about them. They make choices for reasons we do not understand but they do them, I suppose, because that is best for them. I believe that children are blessings from God and if you are willing to have sex, and then you are willing to take on that responsibility. But at the same time, I believe in a woman’s right to choice especially when it comes to her body. This is debate that angers people on both sides. I am, for arguments sake, prolife but at the same time, prochoice. Go figure, some people could tell me that I cannot be both.
