how to keep contractions coming?

I know there are a ton of posts on how to induce labor. But my question is, is there something you can do to encourage contractions that are already there? I can go for a walk, then get like four or five big contractions and feel like I'm just starting to get somewhere and then everything just stops! Same with sex or just in general. So, this might be a dumb question, but is there anything I can do to like, relax or something and keep these things going? Or is there something I'm maybe doingto stop it?

Probably this is wishfull thinking... I just hate this out of control feeling! I get a couple of hours worth of promising pain and then nothing.   I am soooo ready to have this baby already!!! And I want to go into labor naturally because I hear induction is a bitch, but then again if my doc said "see ya Tuesday!" I would jump at the chance.

Anyway, just thought I'd see what you ladies thought.

Just keep walking - I went a week over due which is something you don't want to hear but he finally came. I believe it was all the walking I was doing. Baby's know when they are ready to come and will come in good time. I know the wait is hard - I have been there! But its best to wait it out even though its hard and your tired and sore.

I hate to be the bad news bear, but baby will come when baby is ready, no matter what you do. Walking and sex and all that junk will only get you so far if baby is not ready. The best thing I would say to do is try to relax and not think about labor. I know that's hard, but just enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and when you least expect it...BAM here comes baby. That's what happened to me. I tried everything and then I just gave up and stopped worring, andmy water brokelike in the next fewdays. LoL **Labor Dust**

Not really anything more then what you are doing. What you are experiencing is Pre labor. (Use to be called false labor) When it turns into "true" labor, those activities will not slow it but make them stronger. Keep it up though because it does help. Good Luck.

Thanks for the labor dust--I appreciate all I can get. I know I need to be patient and just let it all progress naturally. My hubby says, "But honey, the baby isn't done baking yet!" and that makes me laugh. The timer hasn't gone off yet, so to speak. But geez, it's hard to wait!

And I like "pre-labor" much more than "false labor." Makes me feel better to think I'm in early stages and not just imagining things.

No your not imagining things just pretending so to say for now! Your body is slowly but surely getting you ready. It will happen in good time dear!! Don't you worry!
