Old friends

I was feeling nostalgic, so I decided to try to contact some of my old friends. The friends that didn't grow up and have kids. It amazes me that even though they have time to party every day, that they don't have an hour to catch up with an old friend, or if they do, the conversation is monopolized with party stories. I guess it bothers me that they haven't grown up at all.... they haven't changed a bit. It also bothers me that they view me as "not fun" any more simply because I have grown up and prioritized. I almost feel sorry for them. When I was "one of them" I thought that was as good as life got, but then I got married and had kids and realized that life was so much more than partying, drinking, drama, and BS. I guess I am just dissapointed.

I can understand where you're coming from. My "best friend" for years and years and I are so different & we rarely talk anymore. Anytime we do talk she's wanting to tell me about her party stories or the guys she's been with....she wants to hear what I've done & well...I cooked dinner for my husband & then fell asleep early because pregnancy exhausts me! lol. It's hard moving on from people in our past, but I guess it's something that everyone goes through.

Sounds like my life..haha. I am married to my hs sweetheart and our hs friends are sooo not even near the point in our life we are. Its crazy..I wonder when they will grow up?? some probably never..lol

Have you heard Montgomery Gentry's song "Back When I Knew it All". We all grow up sometime. My grandmother (may she rest in peace) used to say "Growing up is a beautful thing. You have to wait for it, but it happens". For some of us, having children makes us adults, others need an extra push.

I don't have children but I do know how you feel.
One of my best friends drinks and parties every night. She even told my best friend 2 days after she had her son that she should go night clubbing with her and leave the baby with her boyfriend.
That same friend has even told me to grow down, her words, because she is sick of me being a responsible adult.
About 5 years years ago we had all gone out and Shell got very drunk that she passed out. Well silly me said that I was no longer drinking because I needed to look after Shell so we ended up in a huge fight and she told me I was way too grown up now. Needless to say that was the last time I ever had a night out with her.
Some people just never want to grow up, I guess they just have different priorities. As long as you are doing the best for you and your family there is not really much else you can do.

I'm glad I am not the only one who feels this way!! Thanks ladies... this had me really bummed out.
