Cannot believe some people

Okay you guys, answer me this: when your kids were in the NICU, how often were they being fed? About every 3 hours, right? Well, I was in the PWI forum and on a thread where I just told them what had been told to me by NICU staff and nurses and they began to jump all over me. One girl even made a comment that if I am only feeding my girl every 3 - 4 hours then "she sure hopes my girl gains" Can you believe that? Criticizing how I am following the discharge and doctor instructions! And you guys know Angelina has done well with the weight gain. One girl was arguing that NICU's feed more often and where is my proof that they feed every 3 hours. I told her its the average standard in the US and to talk to any NICU or NICU mom.

She was saying that her baby was a preemie at 36 weeks. I asked her if her kid was in the NICU (which she wasnt) cause that is a whole other story. She was just so adament and demanding I have proof. She was just being so ignorant. Sorry, just need to vent about this. I just hate when people talk on things they dont know, especially something as sensitive like a NICU survival. I have never had anyone be rude on here, but thats mainly cause I have stayed in the preemie forum. Makes me appreciate you guys so much more. So anyway, just so I know what I was saying was right, please let me know how often your little ones were fed in the NICU.

ma,Don't let them bother you.My son was fed every 3 hours EXACT.Not a minute early or later.& I he actually is on that schedule except at night he sleeps all night.at month's old he eat's every 3 hours plus baby food and baby cereal once a day.Do not even let them bother you.

And to the OP - I know absolutely NADA about feeding a newborn or a preemie or anything about BFing or cereal or whatever. But all I have to say is don't let those girls bug you. Just do what your doc tells you to do and don't let anyone upset you for your decisions as a mother. You are your own child's best advocate, so just have faith in your decisions and ignore people who want to tell you otherwise.
BG is full of opinions, so you will probably encounter more of this as time goes on, but its easy to just brush it off if you know that everyone feels passionately about their children and will have strong opinions. And the dumb people - well, I just laugh at them. BG is very supportive as long as you find your niche here.Good luck!

Thanks guys. I know that they were just being immature but I cant stand when people claim to be experts on issues they know nothing about and then to criticize how I care for my kids when I had been instructed by a doctor to do so. My argument was that babies need a lot of sleep, especially newborns, in order to grow and she was making statements like they need to be woken up all the time. She was ignoring common sense. Anyways, I know ignorant people should just not be dealt with. Thanks you guys for letting me vent.

Ahh, but that's what Grandmas do! Lol....my mom is about to become a first time Grandma, and I'm afraid our little guy is going to be spoiled rotten. Oh well...at least its free babysitting, right?
