because there are many factors that could amount to that. What if you just didn't develop right in the womb? life is a game of chance...it never ends up perfect.

Does anyone realize that its harder to quit smoking cigarettes than it is to quit using heroine??? Its a proven fact. And I do believe that more women drink alcohol during pregnancy than anything... so, why is it that just smokers get the blame for low birth weight babies? Alcohol, stress, and drug use are far more conccerning to me than a few cigs! As far as I'm concerned, your babies life plan is madde WAY before you even knew you had a little one on the way. So, if it's not your baby, not your pregnancy, who cares??? You dont like it, dont do it. We are all mothers, or soon to be mothers, on here and we need to handle things like adults. OR...is this high school?? Did I miss that??

Actually, alcohol is the hardest substance to quit. Cigarettes come next.

yeah i do realize that. i started smoking after i had my daughter in feb. its been HELL for me to quit. im just now 'starting' to quit. i went two days without smoking. smoked like hell the next day. the day after that smoked one, and today i smoked one. its really hard, i want to go sit outside and smoke like 4 in a row :[

i have had a best friend go to rehab cuz of drug and alcohol abuse he was really bad.....i think those two are the hardest to quit period...but thats just my opinion tho....

I am 14 weeks and am still smoking...I have smoked for 15 years...cut down when pregnant with my first child and she is very healthy (weighed 7lbs 15 oz when born, 21 and 1/2 inches long) and is 9 years old now and on the honor roll at school, is very active in sports and has no issues. I would however like to cut down and eventually quit. I heard the exact opposite of what you heard and have checked out different sites on this...most encourage you to stop as soon as you can...but definatly by the third tri. Alot of the studies have shown that even cutting down by 1/2 is better than not cutting down at all and the percentage of your baby having any problems goes down dramaticly.
